WoodBuffalowasfirstdesignatedasanInternationalSafeCommunityin1995.Atthattime,itwasthefirstInterna tionalSafecommunityinNorthAmericaandthe12thintheworld.Sincethen,WoodBuffalohasbeenredesignated twice,oncein2005andagainatthisceremony.Eachtime,theredesignationceremonyremindedthecommunityof itscommitmenttothesafetyandwellbeingofeachofitscitizensandofthewonderfulworkbeingdonebythe dedicatedcitizensofWoodBuffalotoengagemembersoftheircommunityintheissuesoftheirsafety.= TheredesignationcelebrationtookplaceattheSuncorCommunityLeisureCentre.Itincludedakeynoteaddress fromPaulKells,founderofSafeCommunitiesCanada,who,onbehalfoftheWorldHealthOrganizationCollaborat ingCentreonCommunitySafetyPromotion,formallyre designatedWoodBuffaloasanInternationalSafeCommunity.
