Job Description Job Title: Events Manager Type: Fixed Term contract (February - June 2018) Reports to: Marketing Manager Hours: Variable, part time, including evening/weekend work especially in May/early June. Work will be office based as well as at live events. Pay: Up to £5,700 based on 60 days at £95 a day Brighton Fringe is the largest annual arts festival in England and one of the largest fringe festivals in the world. The Event team delivers in-house promotional events such as the Brighton and London programme launches at the end of February and in March, and “Fringe City” an outdoor street festival, showcase of Brighton Fringe acts taking place on Saturdays and Sundays in May and early June (exact dates vary year on year) and the Brighton Fringe Awards in June. You will work closely with the Marketing & Communications, Participant Services and Office Management teams to ensure the successful delivery of all events. The ideal candidate will have had experience both in the artistic and logistical side of event production, programming and producing with specific experience within Brighton and Hove a particular bonus. Experience in technical production and training in Health and Safety for events is also required. Key Duties & Responsibilities Budget, plan, programme and oversee all events run by Brighton Fringe in the run up to and during May/June 2017. Including the Brighton and London Brochure Launches (March) and Fringe City and similar projects that have a programming element Direct management of Events Assistant and Events Intern Work closely with Brighton Fringe registrants, Participant Services, Marketing, Communications, Development and Office Management staff Producing key marketing and promotion events such as Brighton and London Launch Events and the Brighton Fringe's Awards event Producing and programming the Brighton Fringe outdoor showcase Fringe City Providing production management and live events management duties for all events Managing sponsorship activation events and liaising with traders and concessions stands Creating and maintaining event manuals, risk assessments and managing the application and development of road closure plans, traffic management plans and all event health and safety procedures Recruitment, scheduling and management of staff and volunteer teams for the Fringe City and live events festival work Liaison with third party technical, safety, security and other suppliers Liaison with Brighton & Hove City Council to ensure that all licensing and other permissions have been complied with Attend meetings, conferences and events as a representative of Brighton Fringe Work with board members and sub groups as required Key Working Relationships 1. All other staff and volunteers Person Specification / Key Competencies Essential requirements Must have experience in large public events or outdoor events management ideally in a creative or festival setting. Candidate will hold a First Aid certificate. Candidate will have completed training in Health and Safety (NEBOSH, IOSH, CIEH or similar), or be able to show relevant knowledge, experience and understanding of H&S law and regulations and Emergency Communication procedures for live events. Experience of managing and scheduling staff and large numbers of volunteers for live events. Desirable Experience in delivering event volunteer training. Experience of delivering events with multiple art forms theatre, cabaret, circus etc. Experience of working within live events in Brighton and Hove.
