Through the database, the users may enjoy the masterpieces via the web, experiencing the spiritual contact and art achievements of the Chinese culture. ─1─ SEARch Chinese masterpieces just in front your eyes 3 1 2 The National Palace Museum Collections Online (NPMCO) provides two search modes: Keyword Search and Advanced Search. A Keyword Search will search all data fields for every image in NPMCO. You can also search for multiple words or for exact phrases if you enclose search terms in quotation marks. Enter your keyword in the search box and click Search (1), the NPMCO will return results that include all your search terms in the search result page. The Advanced Search (2) helps you limit your search by field. You can also use Boolean Operators AND, OR & NOT to combine your search terms. You can click the “search (查詢檢索)” button on the navigation bar (3) to return to the search function page when you are in another page. ─2─ SEARch Result page Chinese masterpieces just in front your eyes 3 1 2 (1) Click the caption to view the full data record of that image. (2) Options will appear along with your search results page (查詢再細分). You can filter by categories, dynasties or other features of images. The image will open in the image viewer with you can zoom and pan the image. (2) You can save a citation from an individual image page through the button “Save to MyNPMCO (加入收藏)” in the top right corner. (A personal MyNPMCO account is needed) (3) Here shows the full data of image, includes category, dynasty, material, function, size, author, color, number, etc. (4) You can use smart phone or pad to capture the QR code. (5) You can write comment, give a rate, or push the record to Facebook and other website. (A personal MyNPMCO account is needed) ─4─ image VIEWER Chinese masterpieces just in front your eyes 2 1 3 4 (1) When you click the caption to view the image, an image viewer will open. You can use the scroll wheel of mouse to zoom in and out, or hold the left button on the mouse to pan the image. (2) There shows the logo of the National Palace Museum and the caption of the image. They will disappear after few seconds. (3) You can also click the “+” and “-“ button beneath the thumbnail to zoom in and out the image. (4) When you move your mouse to the down-side of the viewer, the image bar will appear. You can transfer different images by clicking the thumbnails on the bar. (Not all objects in this database have multi-dimension images) ─5─ browse Chinese masterpieces just in front your eyes 1 2 3 4 Another way to discover NPMCO content is by browsing. Browsing allows you to navigate through NPMCO's categories or dynasties to find images of interest. Browsing by Categories(主題瀏覽) (1) subdivides the NPMCO into two classifications: "A ntiquities" and "Painting/Calligraphies." Antiquities (器物) (2): Bronzes, Ceramics, Jades, Lacquer wares, Enamel wares, Carvings, Studio implements, Textiles, Miscellaneous objects, Fans, etc. Painting/Calligraphies (書畫) (3): Paintings, Calligraphic works, Calligraphic model books, etc. Browsing by Dynasties (4) subdivides the NPMCO into several classifications depend on the Dynasties in Chinese history, from Neolithic period to Qing Dynasty. ─6─ MyNPMCO Chinese masterpieces just in front your eyes 2 1 3 5 4 (1) Click “Login (登入)” in the right of navigation bar to start an account. Enter the requested information, including a valid email address and password (please use only letters and numbers in your password). The email address you enter will be the username for your account. Once you have completed the registration information and received a confirmation email, you will be able to log in to your personalized MyNPMCO account. (2) You can browse your MyNPMCO by clicking “MyNPMCO (我的收藏)" in the navigation bar. (3) You can save a citation from an individual image page through the button “Save to MyNPMCO (加入收藏)” in the top right corner. (4) You can also write comment after you login.
