MARCH 2020 VOLUME XXII ——— ISSUE 7 FOLLOW JESUS AS HE GOES TO WAR! By: Pastor Michael Woldt What does the Lenten season mean for you? One and dedication. SCHOOL PIZZA FUNDRAISER David’s Star School is holding their annual pizza fundraiser. This year we hope to raise enough funds to purchase some new items to enhance our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) curriculum. Order forms are available in the gathering space. The ordering deadline is Friday, March 9th. Please make all checks out to David’s Star. Please also keep an eye out for a link to sign up to volunteer to help with set-up (March 20th) and pizza assembly/pick up March 21st). CHURCH WOODS UPDATE You will be seeing activity in the woods over the next few weeks. Weather permitting a logger will be in the woods doing selective cutting. This is being done for the health of the woods and to ensure generations to come will have a beautiful place to enjoy services. Care will be taken to ensure the appearance of the woods is not negatively affected. There will be some clean up required whenever logging is done. Arbor night this spring will require a few more helping hands. The other activity you will see along Western Avenue and Church Road plus behind school is WE Energies subcontractor Asplundh clearing the areas around power lines. DARTBALL TOURNAMENT David’s Star Bucks are hosting the Wausaukee Dartball League tournament March 7th and 8th. The 9 man teams play Saturday March 7th and the 4 man tournament is Sunday March 8th in the school gym. Play begins at 12:30 both days. Visitors are always welcome. Concessions will be open after the Saturday service and after the 10:15 service. Brats, hamburgers, soft shell tacos and homemade desserts will be on the menu. Carry outs will again be offered. All proceeds benefit the Central Africa Medical Mission. 2 BINGO FAMILY FUN NIGHT! � :) “Happiness is yelling ‘BINGO’” :) WHO? Family and Friends of David’s Star Church and School WHAT? A night full of free food, fellowship and fun! Come eat dinner and stay for a couple of fun rounds of BINGO WHEN? Friday, March 13th FREE Dinner at 5:30p.m. First Round of Bingo at 6:30pm WHERE? David’s Star Lutheran Gymnasium WHY? Why not? Join your DS family for a chance to dine and WIN! It’ll be a free fun night out with friends and family! Spring cleaning is coming sooner than normal for David’s Star this year. Join us for our first ever kids’ clothing “Open Drawer” event. Clean out your drawers and gather whatever coats, clothes, cleats and whatever else doesn’t fit your kiddos anymore. We’ll be accepting clean, gently used kid’s clothing until Monday, March 2nd. Then, join us for a “take what you need” event on Sunday, March 15th. The gym will be open before, during, and after church that morning. Clothes will be sorted by gender and size and will be free for the taking. Any clothes leftover will be donated to Northside Ministries. Drop off your donations in the school office and the church fellowship area. Look for the donation bins labeled, “Open Drawer”. Don’t miss out on this neat event! 12345 West Main St., An 3 DAVID’S STAR FELLOWSHIP NIGHT The 3rd annual David’s Star Fellowship Night will be held Saturday, March 21, 2020 from 7:00 PM—10:00 PM at the Hot House Tavern in Menomonee Falls. This event is hosted by the David’s Star Parents Group. All money raised will go back into our school to support our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) program.
