The ½ and ¾ meat Ewes met a flying trade, several pens around £78 to a top of £85 for a pen of Suffolk x from Messrs G & S Whiting, Fursdon, Horningtops. The big fat Ewes also up around £5 to £6 ahead, up to £75. More Ewes needed to fulfil buyers orders. 348 Fat Lambs Smaller entry met a steadier Weight Top Average trade due to the hot weather, Per Head Per Kilo Per Head Per Kilo overall average of 186.5p. The 39.1-45.5 84.50 192 80 186.5 good meat lambs still selling to 45.6-52 87 189 85.30 181.9 a premium, selling around 190p Overall 87 192 80.80 186.5 to a top of 192p for two pens of 42.2kg Texel x £81 from John May, St Merryn, Padstow. Top per head on the day was £87 from Mrs Glenda Taper, Englewood, Looe. STORE CATTLE AUCTIONEER RICHARD DENNIS 168 Store Cattle at Hallworthy still met a reasonable trade against an ever falling finished trade, plenty of people around the ring but the main topic of conversation was the finished price against the stores. Top call this week went to Mr S Orchard of Lockengate with a strong pair of South Devon Steers to a top of £1075. T C Hooper of Liskeard ran in next with a powerful run of 12-14 month Charolais x Steers to £800. H J Stephens of Trenant, Duloe saw his 10 month Charolais steers to £745 for a pen of three grey fleshy Steers. JC & M Harper of Advent saw his run of 40 suckled Limousin x Steers, 10-12 months top out with a stretchy pen of six red steers to £745 and a super young Name Sire Aberdeen Angus to £780. Friesians A strong trade for the bigger Friesians, with Mr N W Barberry of Dobwalls seeing his first pen of four Steers to £795. Heifers The front end of the Heifer section was led out by A J & S Vallance of Tavistock with a showy 14 month Limousin x Heifer to £830 and then a British Blue x to £720. H J Stephens ran in next with a flashy pen of young Charolais x Heifers at 10 months to £670. Mrs C Barrett of St Columb saw her young name sire Aberdeen Angus Heifers to £665 and Mr T C Hooper saw their top Heifers to £660. .
