Dickens' Women

Chicago Shakespeare Theater presents miriam margolyes in DICKENS’ WOMEN —The Two Gentlemen of Verona, Act I, Scene iii a messaGe from Barbara Gaines Criss Henderson raymond f. mcCaskey Artistic Director Executive Director Chair, Board of Directors Dear FrieNDs We are honored and delighted to welcome acclaimed British actress Miriam Margolyes to the intimate confines of the Thoma Theater Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare. Miriam’s poignant one-woman show, Dickens’ Women, is a beautiful tribute to the life and work of Charles Dickens. The journey of this Olivier Award-nominated production showcases the depth and breadth of Miriam’s singular talent, which enables her to inhabit—with abandon—the most complex of characters. Not only is a Dickensian production aptly reflective of the holiday season, this year also marks the bicentenary of Charles Dickens’ birth. With this production, we join the international community in a year- long celebration of the author’s life and work: Dickens 2012. We are honored to be among the host of organizations across the globe offering special cultural events that pay tribute to the lasting impact of Charles Dickens’ legendary body of work. As a world-class theater reflective of the global city of Chicago, CST is committed to bringing the world’s great theaters to Chicago and Chicago Shakespeare to the world. Presented through CST’s World’s Stage Series, Dickens’ Women joins an impressive list of international productions our Theater has introduced to Midwest audiences (now 46 and counting). Thank you for joining us today. Whether it is for our current production of David Ives’ The School for Lies, Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar or Henry VIII, or one of our upcoming World’s Stage productions, we hope to see you back at CST soon. A host of extraordinary productions await you in the season ahead. Enjoy the show! COVER—Pictured: Miriam Margolyes, photo by Prudence Upton.
