Singapore Disability Sports Awards presented by Haw Par Corporation The Singapore Disability Sports Awards is organised by Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) and proudly presented by Haw Par Corporation. The awards aim to recognise the achievements and contributions made by individuals or groups in the disability sports community. In acknowledgement of the multi-faceted efforts that have made disability sports into what it is today, the awards are applicable to athletes, coaches, organisers, and volunteers. Sportsperson (Nomination by SDSC and its member organisations only) Sportsman | Sportswoman | Sportsboy | Sportsgirl These awards recognise athletes who have shown not only outstanding performance (medal from major games) on the field, but also a commitment to the community, and good character. Team This award aims to recognise the significant achievements made by teams, which face unique challenges that are not as salient in individual sports. Contributor (Open nomination to public) Coach (High Performance) | Coach (Developmental) This award aims to recognise coaches who not only produced stellar athletes, but also made important contributions to the development of disability sports. Community Impact (Volunteering) This award aims to recognise contributions to the inclusion or empowerment of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in sports through voluntary efforts. Community Impact (Events and initiatives) This award aims to recognise contributions to the inclusion or empowerment of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in sports through organising or promoting activities/events related to disability sports. Eligibility 1) Singapore Citizen or PR (for individual awards) 2) To ensure that awardees display good character, all nominees ● Must have a clean disciplinary history in sports ● Must not have on-going investigations of their conduct or activities ● Must be in good standing with SDSC and their member organisations (if applicable) 3) All sports results or activities must have been achieved during 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019. However, for Coach (development) award, the nomination may include results outside of this window to demonstrate a progression in athlete performance and eventual achievement at a regional / national championship that lies within between 1 April 2018 and 31 March 2019. 4) Major games refer to ● Paralympics ● Commonwealth Games ● Asian Para Games ● Asian Youth Para Games ● ASEAN Para Games ● Deaflympics ● Asia Pacific Deaf Games ● ASEAN Deaf Games 5) Award specific criteria ● Sportsman and Sportswoman awards applies to individuals aged 24 and above ● Sportsboy and Sportsgirl awards applies to individuals aged 23 and below ● Team award applies to team sports (e.g. wheelchair basketball), team events (e.g. swimming relay). ● For Sportsperson awards, Athlete Competition Partners (ACP) such as ramp assistants, guide runners and pilots shall be included in the nomination and share any award(s) with the Athletes. ● Coach (High Performance) award applies to coaches whose athlete has achievements in major games or world championships. ● Coach (Developmental) award applies to coaches whose athlete has demonstrated progressive performance, resulting in achievements at regional games or national competitions. ● Community Impact (Volunteering) and Community Impact (Events and initiatives) awards applies to individuals, organisations, or schools. Selection process An independent panel will be convened to evaluate the nominations. The decision of the panel is final; enquiries regarding the selection of the awardees will not be entertained. How to apply? Step 1 Fill in nomination form for selected award category (Sportsperson or Contributor). For Sportsperson category, please fill in Sportsperson nomination form found below. For Contributor category, please fill in Contributor nomination form found below. Self-nominations are not allowed for Sportsperson category. Self-nominations are allowed for Contributor category. Step 2 Submit the completed nomination form via email to Mr Choi Hong Hui at [email protected] by 18 June 2019, 5pm with the header [Sports Awards Submission].
