Travel brochures depict early hotels and describe the area. Often there are business and land owners mentioned. Arrangement Two clamshell 3‐Ring Manuscript boxes 32 x 30 x 6 cm. Each item is in an acid‐free sleeve. Language English Dates c.a. late 1800s to early 1920s Historical Note Prior to the Florida land boom, developers saw potential for bringing northerners to the warm climates of Florida during the winter months. Hotels, railroads and steamship lines were advertising in Florida newspapers as well as all major northern papers. Scope and Content Most of the items are Florida ephemera, postcards, travel brochures, railroad and steamship brochures. There are some non‐Florida travel and transportation brochures such as Cambridge, Arkansas, Charleston, Savannah, Cuba, and Bermuda.
