Philip, Principal,MMMCHS GRADUATION 2019 & NOSTALGIA 2019 The 15th Convocation ceremony for the BITS & SMU students was conducted on 22nd March 2019 at MMM auditorium. Dr. Sunil Thomas Chandy, Professor & HOD Dept of Cardiology of CMC vellore and Dr. Philomena Mariados, Former Dean & Asst Director, MMM were the guest of Honor for the program. The guest awarded the degrees to the students. The MMM Presidents gold Medal was awarded to Ms. Sriranjani, for scoring highest CGPA. The best mentor award was given to Ms. S. Akila, Sr. Lecturer, MMMCHS. As part of the college day celebration “Nostalgia” the book for the year was released by Dr. Sunil Chandy. Online placement brochure was released by Dr. Philomena Mariados. The overall trophy for the team for sports & cultural events was given to Glen team, the captain and vice captain received the trophy. BEST MENTOR AWARD NSS & YRC Activitiy OBSERVATION VISIT As part of the Youth Red Cross activity the students of BSc MLT UG & PG visited Students of II BSc Medical Sociology Jeevodaya Hospital for cancer patients on were taken for observation visit to 4th Feb 2019. Students had an National Institute of Epidemiology opportunity to know more about cancer, ICMR. The students were explained risk factors, preventive measures. PG PRACTICAL EXAMINATION The university practical examination for the PG students were conducted during the 1st and 2nd week November at MMM & CHS with externals from Government Hospitals. REPUBLIC DAY The 70th republic day was celebrated in the college campus on 26th Jan 2019. The guest hoisted Educational fair held on 23rd & 24th March the national flag .March past (Girls) with 2019 at Chennai Trade centre. The students were able to learn about the organization and the pattern of its working. EXAMINATIONS IA 2 EXAMS : Internal assessment II for UG and I for PG is scheduled from 18.02.2019 to 28.02.2019. University Supplementary Exams : The university supplementary exams for theor and praticals begun from 1st Feb 2019 . Intern exams : Internal assessment exam was conducted for the intern students on the 23rd Feb 2019. CONFERENCES ATTENDED Student of Medical Sociology attended seminar organised by Sankara Nethralaya Academy on 9.2.19. on Emerging paradigms in Health care Management. Nearly 20 students along with faculty attended the seminar and found the sessions to be informative. Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher education and research conducted an annual meet for the college students with varied competitions “Matrix 2019” on 5 & 6th of Feb 2109. 24 students of UG courses attended the annual meet, participated in all the competitions and won prizes. Students of III yrs Medical sociology attended two day conference at Bharathiar University Coimbatore, on Gender and disability – challenges and implications. students and faculty presented papers and won certificates for the same. The students of Cardiac Technology II & III yrs attended the 11th Clinical Cardiology Update meeting at our hospital on 11 & 12 of January 2019. STUDENT TOUR The students tour for the III yr students was from 24th to 26th Jan 2019. Nearly 65 students accompanied by 4 staff went on tour to alleppey & athirappilly, Kochi. Admission 2019 The issue of application for the year 2019-20 was started from 1st March 2019. An admission desk was setup at MMM, near the chapel for the issue of application ACE PROGRAM VILLAGE VISIT ACE program: The department of Medical Students of I, II & III yr Medical sociology conducted a continued education session Sociology visited pazhaveri village, at MMM on 14th Feb 2019. A workshop was in kanchipuram district on 15th Feb organised as part of the program in association with 2019. Students collected samples on World Vision on the topic “ understanding the issue changing pattern of caste system in of child sexual abuse and role of medical the village community, practitioners”. The students students of BSc MLT UG & PG actively participated in the program with posters and shared the causes and prevention of cancer.. visited Jeevodaya Hospital for cancer patientson 4th Feb 2019. WOMENS' DAY PROGRAM International women’s day was celebrated in the co1lege on 8th March 2019. The guest for the program was Dr. George Cherian, Director Administration, MMM and Dr. Vijayalakshmi, Asst Prof, VIT, Chennai. Various cultural programs were organised like villu pattu, mime, and yoga. On this occasion we had the inauguration of our college canteen by the Director Administration and awareness camp on organ donation setup by the the volunteers of Mohan foundation, Chennai. NATIONAL ALLIED HEALTH CONFERENCE ON LABORATORY SCIENCES -NACL MMM College of Health Sciences conducted the National Allied Health Conference “NACL 2019” on the 22nd & 23rd Jan 2019 at the MMM auditorium. The guest of honor was Dr. Florida Tilton, Chairperson and MD of Biozone Research Technologies, Chennai for the inauguration & Dr. Srinivasan, Member secretary Tamil Nadu state council for science and Technology Chennai for valedictory function. YOGA DAY As per the government circular the international Yoga Day was celebrated on 21st June 2019 at MMMCHS campus. Mr. Srinivasan, yoga instructor from Navayugam Trust Chennai was invited for the program, he briefed the students on the importance of yoga and conducted demonstration class. Yoga slogan competition was held for the students on the topic “yoga and its benefits” students were evaluated and prizes were given. Reopening : College reopened on the 3rd June 2019 for all the students after vacation training . Admission 2019 The entrance examination was scheduled on 6th June 2019 in three sessions Approximately 800 students attended the examination . PG Admission : The interview schedule for admission into PG courses was held on 17th & 18th of June 2019. Eligible students were selected for admission. Seminar : As part of the program the awareness programs Department of Community Health & Preventive Medicine, conducted a seminar on “Communicable diseases and their prevention” on 12th June 2019 at MMMCHS campus for the students. Leprosy Case detection : The students of Medical Sociology participated in the National Leprosy eradication program, students conducted survey in and around Mogapair and collected data regarding the disease. At the end of the survey students and staff were encouraged with certificate by Mr. Rajendran, Health Inspector, Tamil Nadu Medical Service Department. Parent Teacher Meet : The PTA meeting held in CHS campus on 29th June 2018 for all tstudents. The parents visited college to know about their ward’s performance IA marks, attendance percentage and discipline were the main topics for discussion.
