Collins October 2005 Issue Semi-Annual Meeting We had quite a large gathering at the Semi- Annual Meeting in Annapolis at the Officer’s Club of the United States Naval Academy on Oct. 15th. Just following the State Board Meeting, at 12pm guests enjoyed a fine lunch and then talk from fellow MDSSAR Member, John H. Beakes Jr. who is working on a biography of famous Patriot Col. John Eager Howard. John H. Beakes Jr., Guest Speaker Mr. Beakes provided a fascinating talk on the life of Col. John Eager Howard who was a former Officer in the MD Line, Hero at Cowpens and Governor of MD just to name a few of his long credits. John Beakes is a 1966 graduate of the USNA and a former nuclear submarine officer, having served on the USS Nautilus and the USS George Bancroft. John is working on a future published biography of Howard. The Color Guard opened the luncheon with a Upcoming Events well drilled and impressive march into the Dec. 28, 2005 ...
