<p>A</p><p>Introduction to LT X Workshop: <br>E</p><p>Installation Guide </p><p>A</p><p>This is a brief guide describing various options for installing a LT X compiler and <br>E</p><p>editor on your laptop or other computational device.&nbsp;The major software providers all provide automatic installers so in most cases it is as simple as navigating to the proper website and double clicking on an application. </p><p>A</p><p>1 Installing&nbsp;LT X on your computer <br>E</p><p>A</p><p>1.1 Installing&nbsp;LT X on Mac <br>E</p><p>The standard compiler for Mac computers is called MacT Xwhich can be downloaded <br>E</p><p>and installed from:&nbsp;http://tug.org/mactex/. The&nbsp;editor T XMaker can be downloaded <br>E</p><p>and installed from: www.xm1math.net/texmaker. </p><p>A</p><p>1.2 Installing&nbsp;LT X on Windows <br>E</p><p>The standard compiler for Windows computers is called MikT Xwhich can be downloaded <br>E</p><p>and installed from:&nbsp;http://miktex.org/. The&nbsp;editor T XMaker can be downloaded and <br>E</p><p>installed from: www.xm1math.net/texmaker. </p><p>A</p><p>1.3 Installing&nbsp;LT X on Linux <br>E</p><p>A</p><p>Many contemporary Unix distributions are already packaged with a LT Xcompiler and <br>E</p><p>editor. If you are using Ubuntu or Debian then you can install directly from the terminal by entering: sudo apt-get install texlive-full&nbsp;followed by sudo apt-get install texmaker. On RedHat or CentOS you can use sudo yum install tetex to obtain the compiler.&nbsp;Installing T Xmaker is a little more complicated but any text editor will work as well. <br>E</p><p>2 Tablets&nbsp;and Mobile Devices </p><p>Most of the online editors have app versions that can be used from your phone or tablet. If you want to compile documents on these devices without an internet connection there are a few options.&nbsp;There are two popular ios apps: TeXPad and TeXWriter.&nbsp;Each of them costs approximately&nbsp;10 to install. In addition to versions of the previous two compilers, android devices have a free option in VerbTeX. </p><p>3 Online&nbsp;Editors </p><p>A</p><p>There are several good options if you don’t want to install LT Xon your computer: Over- <br>E</p><p>leaf formerly WriteLatex (h<a href="/goto?url=http://www.overleaf.com), Papeeria" target="_blank">ttps://www.overleaf.com), Papeeria (</a>https://papeeria.com/), and ShareLatex (h<a href="/goto?url=http://www.sharelatex.com/).
