While working as an associate at Jean Carroon Architects, a 10-person architectural firm that worked exclusively with historic buildings, responsibilities covered a variety of disciplines from project management and construction administration to marketing and report development. In January of 2000, Jean Carroon Architects merged with Goody Clancy & Associates to strengthen their existing preservation division. Massachusetts Historical Commission (MA-SHPO) - Grants Division, Boston, MA Dec. 1997-August 1999 Employed as a Preservation Planner to provide Technical Services to Massachusetts Preservation Projects Fund grant applicants and recipients. Responsibilities included reviewing the eligibility of grant applications, making recommendations for selection of grant awards and management of projects through terms of contract. Grants management involved preparing contract documents, review and approval of plans and specifications, guiding appropriate methodology and technical aspects of restoration work, monitoring project compliance with bidding procedures and procurement requirements, and processing financial and project close-out documentation. Building Conservation Associates, Inc. - Dedham, MA May 1997-Nov. 1997 Employed as an architectural conservator in the New England Regional Office of the New York City based firm. Worked on historic structure reports, historic paint analyses, produced conservation specifications, conducted conservation assessment program studies, and conducted numerous condition assessments. Boston Landmarks Commission-Environment Department, City of Boston - Boston, MA Oct. 1995-May 1997 Employed as a preservation planner to staff two of the seven landmark district commissions in the City of Boston Responsible for the oversight of approximately 4000 buildings while processing applications for design review, working with developers, architects and property owners, administering public hearing (agendas, minutes, decision letters) and ensuring the compliance of the Historic districts' policies and standards & criteria. Preservation Assistance Division, National Park Service - Washington, D.C. June 1994-Feb. 1995 Employed through fellowship with the National Council for Preservation Education as a technical researcher. Responsibilities included researching and writing technical publications on historic and twentieth century building materials, as well as writing and editing entries for upcoming book publication. Save Fenway Park! is a grassroots effort formed in 1998 to ensure that Fenway Park remains the home of the Boston Red Sox for generations to come. Initially developed as a growing coalition of individuals and organizations, the group and its members believe that Fenway Park is the Red Sox's most valuable asset, and a national treasure that should be renovated rather than replaced. Over the last ten years, the group’s focus has been more advisory to the new Red Sox ownership as they have undertaken renovation efforts. Turpin Bannister Chapter, Society of Architectural Historians – Board of Directors, Treasurer The Society of Architectural Historians is an international not-for-profit membership organization that promotes the study and preservation of the built environment worldwide.
