As you read these words, the chill of autumn will soon turn to winter. The foliage will fade to gray, and the green leafy landscape of summer and spring will pass away. Our lives are much like the seasons—we’re born into the summer of our life editor’s just like delicate morning dew droplets on the grass, which soon transforms note to golden autumn and then quickly flows into the winter of our lives, when the vibrant colors of spring and fall have fallen away. As I ponder how the seasons mimic life, I think of my grandmother, Agnes DiCoio, who passed away this past May. She was in the winter of her life, having lived to a month before her 95th birthday.
