La Bamba Dance-a-Long & Screening Friday, June 13 7:30 - 10:30pm (doors open at 7:00, dance lesson at 7:30pm, screening at 8:30pm,) *Special introduction by cast and filmmakers Union Station Old Ticket Concourse La Bamba, written and directed by Luis Valdez, follows the life and career of Chicano rock 'n' roll star Ritchie Valens and the effect that Valens' career had on the lives of his half-brother Bob Morales, his girlfriend Donna Ludwig and the rest of his family. La Bamba exploded out of nowhere in 1987, becoming an instant critical and commercial hit and making stars of both Lou Diamond Phillips and the band Los Lobos. Come celebrate La Bamba with an evening of dancing and audience participation at Los Angeles' historic Union Station. We'll dance our way into the night to Valdez' beloved musical indie and its electrifying '50s rock soundtrack. This program is co-presented by Metro, the Los Angeles Film Festival and Film Independent, and is produced in cooperation with Dance Camera West.
