CSYC 2020 Pursuit Race Sailing Instructions Here are our very informal rules for the 2020 Pursuit Race. As always, the 2017- 2020 Rules of Racing will cover anything not mentioned here. The pursuit race is a two-hour race where the start time for each boat is adjusted for their PHRF handicap. The start time is based on a boat with a PHRF rating of 272 leaving at 2:00 pm and all other boats delayed by a time calculated using PHRF TOT for a two-hour race. See attachment for adjusted start times. Any boat with a higher PHRF will start at 2:00 pm. The Pursuit Race will be held on Sunday September 13, 2019. A skippers’ meeting will be at 1:15 pm at the Marina docks near the B Dock BBQ. Wear your mask. The rules and start time for each class of boat will be covered. The race will start at 2:00 pm near the no-wake buoys in Roxborough Cove. Two no-wake buoys will be designated by the race committee boat as the start line. Each boat will start according to their adjusted start time. The Race Committee Boat will assist racers with any questions about their start time. The race course will be to marks 2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 4 … etc. Racers will continue around the race course. The object of the race is to finish the race at the red-green buoys marking the entrance to the marina at 4 pm. The race committee will monitor the race and make the decision when to stop the race track course and head to the finish line. At the appropriate time, the race committee will announce over the VHF Channel 68, “The next mark for the lead boat is the final mark.” After the lead boat rounds the next mark, the lead boat will announce over Channel 68: “Mark # is the final mark.” The course is now set for the finish. The first boat to cross the red-green buoys is the winner of the race.
