Sakai Display Products Breaks Ground on 10.5-Generation Display Industrial Park in Guangzhou Facility to deliver the world’s most advanced ultra-high definition 8K display technology (GUANGZHOU, China) – March 1, 2017 – SAKAI SIO International GuangZhou Co., Ltd, (SIO) today held the ground-breaking ceremony for its 10.5-generation display industrial park (G10.5), which is being built in partnership with the People's Government of Guangzhou Municipality. The new G10.5 facility in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou will be at the center of SIO’s parent company, Sakai Display Product Corporation’s (SDP) strategy of leveraging Industrial Internet and intelligent manufacturing technology to develop innovative display screens, smart TVs, electronic whiteboards and other cutting-edge display products and solutions. It will also serve as the strategic base for SDP in its development of 8K technology, contributing to a vibrant 8K ecosystem and supply chain across the Pearl River Delta. At the event, SIO unveiled some of the latest applications of 8K technology, from China Manufacturing 2025 to medical and healthcare, automotive safety, education and entertainment, as well as solutions for smart homes and smart cities. SDP will leverage its experience in 10th-generation manufacturing of large display screens at its new facility, which, when operational in 2019, will be the world’s most advanced and largest 8K display fabrication plant. The G10.5 facility will deliver high-quality, high-efficiency 65-inch and 75-inch displays and create 15,000 jobs across the display industry value-chain. Representing a total investment of RMB 61 billion, the facility is expected to produce 90,000 display panels (2,940mm x 3,370mm) every month and generate an annual production value of RMB 92 billion when fully operational. -ends- .
