WELCOME Sh. Amal Sinha, CEO, BRPL welcomed the delegates in the 16th meeting of the Grid Coordination Committee (GCC). He outlined the importance of the Grid Coordination Committee as being the Apex Coordination Body of Power Sector in Delhi. He opined that the challenges between the System Operators and other stakeholders in view of the integration of renewable sources in a massive form. As per the Govt. policy, by the year 2022, the renewable capacity likely to be integrated in the sector would be about 175Gigawatts. Delhi alone would be having about 2000MW solar power. The scheduling, variation of vast generation would be a real challenge for the System Operators as well as stakeholders for arrangement of power. He suggested that the experiences of renewable rich states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu etc. should be acquired for efficient trouble free system operation in Delhi. He further extended thanks for giving opportunity to host the meeting of Apex Coordination Forum of the Power Sector in Delhi. He further, outlined the need of coordinated efforts to meet the anticipated summer demand of 6600MW. He was quite satisfied that the winter demand has been met successfully almost trouble free manners. However, cautioned about the high voltage problems prevailing in the Grid during the night time even affecting the reliability of power supply.
