I can be contacted by email at [email protected] or call 01702 478354. Police Update Chalkwell Ward is now grouped with Blenheim, Prittlewell and Westborough Wards for the Local Community Meetings. These take place six times a year and provide an opportunity for local residents to meet with officers from the Neighbourhood Police Team and discuss local crime issues. At the last meeting the police once again emphasised how important it is for the public to report crimes and other incidents to them. If you see something, please report it – the sooner the better. Conservatives working hard for you in Chalkwell Ward Southend Borough Council’s new structure Following the local elections, the Conservatives are the largest party on the Council with 22 seats, but this is short of an overall majority. So for the coming year the Council will continue to be run by a coalition. The coalition is now formed by councillors from four different political groups: the Independents, Labour and Lib Dems as before, plus the “Southend Independence Group”. This is a new group consisting of three of the five UKIP councillors elected to the Council last year. They recently parted company with UKIP and now sit as independents, but in a separate group from the Independent Group. Confused? You are not alone!
