In My opinion he’s More of floor spacing 4, with solid passing skills and above average rebounding ability. However, last suMMer, playing for Spain in the 2016 OlyMpics, Mirotic played considerably better, including shooting roughly 45% froM the arc. Again, like so Many players environMents play a far greater iMpact on their perforMance. Chicago’s spacing was a probleM all season. Their Most played unit (390 Min), Rondo-Wade-Butler- Gibson-Lopez was effective, but their better lineups generally came with TWO (McDerMott/Zipser) floor spacers and without Wade. Often tiMes Mirotic had to play the role of the singular anoMaly keeping all the gravity to his side to open up the floor for Butler to attack off the dribble. With another pure shooter teams can’t overload and blatantly deny Mirotic the ball as easily Making his IQ and shooting Much More effective. One of his best traits is that he is the quintessential EURO ball-Mover. Per NBA.coM’s database Mirotic average 6.6 shots per game with 0 dribbles. Often tiMes on tape it’s evident he Makes quick decisions without pounding the ball letting the defense to adjust. It’s this attribute alone on offense that Make’s hiM More of a “turnkey” type player for a lot offences. The other is his range off PNP (Pick and Pop) action. Mirotic shot 18-40 (45%) on shots on shots froM ≥ 27Ft. Defensively, because I do see hiM as a starter, there will always be a few Match-ups that will give hiM trouble. He defended the ISO fairly well last season, .59PPP, but on a team with Robin Lopez, JiMMy Butler and Taj Gibson, that’s a good example of environMent helping hiM out. However, he did show ability to defend the PnR. Teams only averaged 1.08 PPP when he guarded the roll Man. Again, it’s not stellar, but adequate. He’s More fast than he is quick, but 1.5 deflections a game shows he does have solid instincts and effort on the defensive end of the floor. .
