Mr. Palmer considers this event the 21st most memorable moment of his life. In 1963, The Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce (the parent organization of The First Tee of Los Angeles) commemorated this un-Palmer-like score with a stunning 2-plate bronze plaque. In 2017, First Tee of Los Angeles, along with the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, replaced the stone plaque with a replica of the 1963 original and added a third plaque recognizing 100 donors who are committed to the sustainability of junior golf programs for underserved youth of Los Angeles County. THE FIRST TEE OF LOS ANGELES For more than 30 years, TFTLA has been providing youth development sports programs to underserved youth, ages 6 to 18, that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices. TFTLA is not a typical junior golf program. While those exist and focus on helping youth become great golfers, we stand out because our goal is very different. We target youth living in underserved communities of Los Angeles and while a handful of our youth do become great golfers, 100% become great kids who can demonstrate our Nine Core Values™ (Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy, and Judgment) in all aspects of their lives.
