CMS DRESS CODE 2020--2021 ​ ● Students are asked to wear clothes that are neat and clean in appearance and suitable for the school’s educational atmosphere. ● The school principal or her designees will prohibit any dress that interferes with the learning process. ● Fashion trends often suggest clothing that may be acceptable outside of school but are not acceptable inside of school. The guidelines listed below will ensure that students are dressed appropriately for school. ● The administration reserves the right to make the final decision regarding school-appropriate clothing. Clothing Regulations: 1) Clothing promoting alcohol, drugs, tobacco products or inappropriate language or messages must not be worn. 2) Halter tops, see-through blouses, midriff tops, tops with spaghetti straps or low-cut tops must not be worn. Any top without full shoulder coverage must have at least 2 inch straps. 3) A student’s midriff and back must be covered at all times during the school day. If this exposure occurs due to actions associated with routine physical tasks, such as sitting, raising a hand, reaching, etc. the student will be asked to change. 4) Shorts, skirts, and dresses cannot be shorter than the student's fingertips. 5) Undergarments cannot be exposed at anytime including bra straps, bralettes or the tops of underwear. 6) Shoes/sneakers must be worn at all times for health and safety reasons in PE and during Science labs or during any other class or event where health and safety concerns require shoes or sneakers. 7) Sunglasses or bandanas must not be worn in school. 8) Jewelry such as pocket chains or large hoop earrings must not be worn in school. 9) Backpacks are to remain in student lockers at all times. Discipline Protocols for Dress Code Violations: First Offense: Student will modify/change his/her clothing to adhere to the Dress Code. A verbal ​ warning will be issued and noted. Second Offense: Student will modify/change his/her clothing to adhere to the Dress Code. ​ Parents will be notified. Third Offense: Student will modify/change his/her clothing to adhere to the Dress Code. An ​ after-school detention will be assigned followed by a parent meeting. Fourth Offense: Immediate removal from school for the day with additional consequences at the ​ discretion of the administration. .
