Bill Hagerty’s Blueprint To Protect The teamhagerty.com Right To Life My Fellow Tennesseans, As a fourth-generation Tennessean, I am proud of the Christian, conservative values that my parents instilled in me that I continue to hold dear. These precious values guide Chrissy and me as we raise our four children. Our aim is to pass these core values onto them. One of those fundamental values is the right to life. Tennesseans value life; we believe that all people— including the unborn — are valued. Our God-given rights to liberty and the pursuit of happiness are meaningless without the right to life. It is the first in our Constitution and the most valuable. Sadly, this right has become increasingly threatened by the liberals in Washington. It is deeply troubling to hear them argue that abortion is a human right. Abortion is not a human right; it takes a human life. I believe that you can judge a nation by how it treats its most vulnerable people—“even as you have done to the least of these” is a creed I live my life by. I support life and in the U.S. Senate, I will be a voice for the voiceless, and am not ashamed to say that I believe every person—born and unborn—has a right to life. 1 I am proud to have the complete and total endorsement of President Donald Trump, the first sitting president to speak at March for Life, the largest annual gathering of pro-life supporters. President Trump understands that every life has immeasurable worth and potential, and he is leading our fight for the right to life. While in office, President Trump has nominated more than 250 constitutionalist judges to protect the right to life, established a coalition of 24 nations to eliminate the concept of abortion as a human right and declared January 22nd National Sanctity of Life Day. In the Senate, I will work with President Trump to protect the rights of our unborn. The stakes of the 2020 election could not be higher. My opponent has been endorsed by Planned Parenthood, which performed nearly 350,000 abortions in 2019. We must not allow the radical liberal agenda to destroy our Tennessee conservative values. In our home state, Governor Bill Lee and General Assembly leaders introduced one of the most comprehensive, pro-life legislative packages to date. Once again, Tennessee is leading the way when it comes to advocating for the right to life. We must defend our Tennessee values and take a strong stance against the infringement of the rights of the most vulnerable among us. 2 Now more than ever is the time to be a voice for the voiceless. That is why I believe it is crucial to defund big abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood, which performed nearly 350,000 abortions in 2019. Using federal funds to keep these organizations running is morally and fiscally indefensible. My opponent is endorsed by Planned Parenthood and will continue the socialist Democrats’ agenda to prop up the abortion industry. We must not allow that to happen. In the Senate, I will work to ensure Planned Parenthood is defunded - once, and for all - so that your taxpayer dollars are never used for abortions, and every child’s right to life is protected. 5 Stop Taxpayer-Funded Abortions As a father of four, I am alarmed by how fervently radical liberals are fighting to keep abortion as a key tenet in their socialist platform. They want taxpayer-funded abortions for anyone who seeks one. Ilhan Omar and “The Squad” support taxpayer-funded abortions for illegal aliens, while Bernie Sanders goes as far as advocating for increased abortions to achieve his goal of population control. We must not allow this attack on the most vulnerable among us to be fueled by taxpayer dollars. When I get to the U.S. Senate, I will fight back against the radical socialist agenda to put an end to taxpayer- funded abortions. 6 Reclaim The 14th Amendment For Our Unborn The 14th Amendment clearly says that no state shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.” An unborn baby is a human being, therefore, abortion is a clear violation of the 14th Amendment. Abortion takes a human life, and we must strive to put an end to it. As a father of four precious children, I am 100 percent pro-life, and I will always fight to be a voice for our voiceless and defend their right for due process. 7 Confirm Constitutionalist Judges To secure the protection of our unborn, we must have in place constitutionalist judges who will support the right to life. The Democrats have made their plans clear: to impeach Supreme Court justices and pack the federal bench with liberal activist judges. That’s why President Trump has endorsed my campaign. He knows Tennesseans value constitutionalist justices on the Supreme Court and justices in the federal judiciary who support the right to life. With future appointments to the Supreme Court and federal bench, the President and Senate will dictate the shape of the court for years to come. We need to ensure those justices and judges are not liberal activists. Tennessee needs a Senator who will vote to confirm constitutionalist justices and judges who respect the rule of law. 8 Pass Pain-Capable Legislation Growing up with Tennessee values, I understand the importance of the right to life, which is why I am appalled that Democrats want to see abortions conducted after 20-weeks of pregnancy and will go so far as to allow infanticide. At the age of 20 weeks, scientific evidence tells us an unborn child can feel pain through physical, chemical, brain and stress responses, demonstrating pain at this stage of development. Pain-Capable legislation makes it unlawful to perform an abortion after 20 weeks for that reason. Passing this legislation is necessary in order to protect unborn children from painful and untimely deaths, and as your Senator, I will stand alongside Marsha Blackburn to fight for this protection and more. 9 Require Medical Care For Babies Born Alive As A Result Of A Botched Abortion Babies born as a result of a botched abortion should receive the same medical care as babies born at that stage of pregnancy. Period. But too many on the radical Left are fighting to ensure that does not happen. In neighboring Virginia, the Governor spoke out in support of infanticide. This year, Democrats blocked a bill that would secure medical care for children born alive as a result of a botched abortion. This legislation was designed to ensure that every newborn baby has a fighting chance, whether born in a hospital or an abortion clinic. Make no mistake, the radical liberals want to allow abortion up to the minute a baby is born, and even the minute after. Their lack of regard for human life is deeply troubling.
