OUR VALUES Respect • Integrity • Compassion • Excellence • Safety 2 A MESSAGE FROM BGCCI LEADERSHIP Dear Friend, Thank you for your generous support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa (BGCCI)! Because of you, our kids and teens have a safe, supportive place to be when they’re not in school and the resources they need to reach great futures! For over 50 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa has provided life-changing guidance for the young people of our Des Moines community. This year, we served 1,900 members, celebrating milestones, special events, and impactful programs along the way. However, we know there are many more young people we can guide to great futures. We also know our members are more likely to succeed if they start their Club journeys early and continue throughout their academic careers. That’s why in the past year, we’ve launched a future vision of growth called Club Pathways. Through this visionary plan, BGCCI will complete four paths of Clubs in Des Moines so that kids and teens can progress from elementary through high school with the Boys & Girls Clubs by their side. In the following pages, you’ll learn more about the past year at Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Iowa, our exciting Club Pathways vision, and how you can get involved in the great futures of our kids and teens! Thank you for helping us pave the way for the future leaders of our Des Moines community! In 2017, we employed 21 full time employees as well as 79 part-time Youth Development Professionals (YDPs). In each of our five Des Moines sites, our Club staff plan and implement structured programs for our members. Even more so, they become trusted role models, there to provide our kids and teens with the guidance and resources they need to reach great futures. In addition to staff, in 2017, BGCCI also relied on over 600 volunteers to implement the BGCCI mission. From assistance with special events, to packaging food for our Club families, to providing program and career guidance in the Clubs, our volunteers are a special part of the Boys & Girls Club family. We’re always looking for dedicated professionals and caring community volunteers to join our team.
