T-BALL/COACH PITCH RULES (A) Games shall be one hour in length. Any inning started prior to the one hour limit will be played as a complete inning…both teams will bat. (B) Coach Pitch Games – A half inning shall consist of 3 outs or 5 runs scored. (C) T-Ball Games – A half inning shall consist of team batting through lineup. Runner stays on base no matter result. (D) During pitching activity or an at bat, the player in the pitcher position must remain in the vicinity of the pitching rubber and a maximum of 6 feet away from the pitching rubber. (E) If a play is attempted on a player and there is an overthrow, the runner is to remain on the base attained, unless forced to the next base. (F) If a ball is hit to the outfield, runners may continue to advance to the next base until an outfielder’s throw reaches the infield (within baselines). At that time the runners must remain on the base attained. If the runner is halfway or greater to the next base, they can continue to the next base. Once the ball is in the infield, within the baseline, the play is officially dead/complete. (G) Coach Pitch Baseball – The coach will pitch 5 balls to the batter. If the batter fails to hit one of the 5 pitches, the ball will then be hit from the TEE. The 5 pitches must be adhered to even if any of the pitches are “bad” throws made by the coach. The batter will continue to bat from the Tee until the ball is hit. Everyone will get to hit the ball…no strikeouts. (H) T-Ball Games – Players will hit from the tee only, no pitching. (I) A coach from the offensive team shall be positioned behind the batter to assist in retrieving missed balls or to set the ball on the hitting tee. (J) Infield defense shall consist of 5 players (Pitcher, 1st, 2nd, SS, & 3rd bases). NO CATCHERS! (K) Coach Pitch Baseball - There shall be a maximum of 5 outfielders playing on defense and those outfielders shall be positioned no less than 10 feet behind the baseline. (L) T-Ball Games – After setting the 5 infield players the remaining players will be positioned in the outfield and those outfields must be 10 feet behind the baseline. No players will left on the bench. (M) A maximum of two coaches of the defensive team will be allowed on the field to instruct/coach the fielders. Set-up is best behind shortstop and second baseman. Do not stand within baseline. (N) Any hit ball must go forward beyond a 6 foot circle measured from the rear of home plate. (O) Emergency restroom breaks will be allowed with no penalty, except that the batter will be skipped in the batting order for this turn. No out. Example: Batting started with batter #1, it is now batter #4’s time to bat, and that player went to the restroom. Skip batter #4 and continue the batting order with batter #5. Batter #4 can bat once he returns from the restroom. (P) Base distance are set at 60’ and the mound is set at 40’ Coaches can be closer while pitching. (Q) Coaches should rotate between infield and outfield per inning and batting order for each game. (R) The only ball to be used for game/practice is the Safe-T-Soft Level 3 or 5.
