Rancho is looking STANDINGS to rebound after disappointingly dropping the final two games and earning a series split with the Lake Elsinore Storm. Today is Tem- blores Tuesday, as the Quakes transform into los Temblores de Rancho Cucamonga, as part of MiLB’s Copa de la Diversión initiative. NORTH W L PCT GB SUNDAY NIGHT’S GAME: The Quakes fell in the series finale on Sunday by an 8-5 final, as Rancho committed a season-high six Fresno 24 12 .667 - errors and tied a single-game franchise record. The Quakes plated a pair early with Jorbit Vivas knocking in his first of three runs on San Jose 24 12 .667 - the day, and Alex De Jesus snapping an 0-for-11 streak with a two-out run-scoring double. The Storm cut the lead to one after their Modesto 21 15 .583 3 Stockton 13 23 .361 11 at-bats in the first inning, with a two-out RBI single of their own. In the third inning Brandon Lewis hit a solo home run, his sixth of the season, tying him for the team high with Diego Cartaya and putting Rancho back up by two. The hot series continued however for Joshua Mears, as he launched his first of what would be two home runs in this game. Rancho plated a run in the seventh, thanks to Brandon Lake Elsinore 17 19 .472 2.5 Lewis’ fourth hit of the game, and Vivas’ third RBI. Sadly, in the bottom of the seventh is when the Storm made their move offensively. Inland Empire 16 19 .457 3 A five-run inning for Lake Elsinore that saw two home runs hit, and a crucial Rancho error allowed the Storm to gain a three-run Visalia 9 27 .250 10.5 lead that they wouldn’t relinquish. The Quakes committed six errors defensively, which led to five of the eight total runs for the Storm being unearned. The Quakes committed a total of ten errors over the six-game series split against Lake Elsinore. BRANDON LEWIS: The big bright spot of the Rancho offense on Sunday was Brandon Lewis. His four-hit performance kept his TODAY club in the game, and he has been one of the top hitters on this team for the season to date. After over a month of the season, Lewis is Visalia at Rancho Cucamonga, 6:30 PM leading the Quakes in at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, walks and is tied with Cartaya for the team lead in home runs. Brandon has cement- Stockton at Fresno, 6:50 PM ed himself in the three spot of the order due to his offensive production. He had at one point a 10-game hitting streak this season, and San Jose at Modesto, 7:05 PM over this last series in Lake Elsinore, Lewis went 10-for-24, which gave him a series average of .416. Lake Elsinore at Inland Empire, 7:05 PM ROSTER MOVES: The Dodgers released OF Brandon Wulff today and transferred OF Ismael Alcantara to the Rancho Cucamonga roster from Extended Spring Training in Arizona. Wulff hit just .159 with one homer and five RBIs in 18 games for Rancho. GAVIN STONE: The Quakes are looking to get back into the win column and their starting pitcher tonight, Gavin Stone, is still TOMORROW searching for his first win of the season. This will be Stone’s seventh start of the season, and his first against the Visalia Rawhide. In his Visalia at Rancho Cucamonga, 6:30 PM last outing against Lake Elsinore, Stone struggled as he went 3.2 innings and allowed three runs on five hits. That was a tough game Stockton at Fresno, 6:50 PM for Gavin as he got little help defensively in that contest, and all three of those runs came with two outs in the fourth inning. Stone San Jose at Modesto, 7:05 PM will be looking to bounce back, and repeat his last home outing where he went 3.2 innings against the Inland Empire and allowed just Lake Elsinore at Inland Empire, 7:05 PM one unearned run on a single hit. This is Stone’s first season in professional baseball, as he was a fifth-round selection by the Dodgers in the shortened 2020 Draft out of Central Arkansas. AUSTIN POPE: The Visalia Rawhide are coming off a good series against the Inland Empire, and will give the ball to Austin Pope CAL LEAGUE SCOREBOARD here in game one at LoanMart Field. Pope was drafted out of Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut by the Diamondbacks in SUNDAY the 15th round back in 2019. The right-hander picked up his fourth loss of the season his last time out against the Inland Empire. Pope went 4.2 innings in that game and allowed four runs (three earned) and five hits. It’s been a tough season on the record for Pope Inland Empire 6 Visalia 0 so far, as he has been saddled with four losses and has yet to get a win here in 2021. So far this season Pope is yet to have an outing Fresno 5 Modesto 3 where he has given up less that three earned runs on the mound, and will have his hands full with the Quakes, who currently lead the San Jose 9 Stockton 8 league in runs scored and runs batted in. This is Austin Pope’s second season in Minor League Baseball. Lake Elsinore 8 Rancho Cucamonga 5 AROUND THE FARM: Back on Sunday the Great Lakes Loons picked up another win over the Dayton Dragons, as the Loons took the final game of that series by a 9-6 final. With the win the Loons salvaged the last two games of that series and improved to 18-18 on the year. The Tulsa Drillers fell 7-1 against the Wichita Surge on Sunday, as the Drillers dropped both games to the Surge over the 2021 QUAKES AT A GLANCE weekend. The Oklahoma City Dodgers took losses on both Sunday and Monday to the El Paso Chihuahuas to end that series. The 1st Half Record: 19-16 Oklahoma City Dodgers tried to rally on Monday with a pair of runs in the ninth inning, but they fell just short in the 4-3 contest. vs Visalia: 0-0 The Dodgers themselves were in action on Sunday with a 5-3 win over the Rangers to finish off a series victory against Texas.
