There’s something wonderfully comforting about the sweet smell of a cake baking in the oven or waiting impatiently for “ a tray of biscuits to cool, even slightly, before you can steal a cheeky try. Baking always reminds me of weekends spent in the kitchen with my mum and my Nan making old-school favourites like Melting Moments (page 10), Berry Jam & Almond Tarts (page 54) or a spatula-licking worthy Mud Cake (page 85). So whether you’re baking for a Mother’s Day afternoon tea, the school Mother’s Day bake sale or just because you fancy a little trip down memory lane, there’s a recipe here that will become your new favourite, and will hopefully create new memories for you and your family.
