McDavitt Photographs Page 2 Carlisle McDavitt (1899-1987) was an engineering student at the University of Missouri from 1917-1922. In addition to this, McDavitt was also an amateur photographer, which led to his interest in photographing his time at the university. Among the images of football gameplay there are photographs from Mizzou's 1920 homecoming versus the Kanas Jayhawks where the Tigers were victorious by a score of 16-7. Also in the year 1920, Carlisle married Agnes Smith (1899-1990) at the Presbyterian Church in Columbia, Missouri. Arrangement: The collection has been arranged into the following series: Photographs Scope and Content Note: The photographs document football, people, and campus buildings and landscapes at the University of Missouri in Columbia. The photos feature various scenes from early Mizzou football games including early homecoming events, Missouri vs. Kansas and Missouri vs. Oklahoma games. Additionally, McDavitt captured many photos of the marching band. There is a particular emphasis placed on engineering college students and faculty and associated events with the engineering school. Finally there are general photographs of buildings and landscapes of the university campus throughout Mr. McDavitt's time as a student, particularly Francis Quadrangle, the columns, and the white campus.
