(Civil) No. 1/2020 In Re: Contagion of COVID oe- 19 Virus in prisons, the cases of inmates of the Sub Jail, Chidambaram held under judicial custody in crimes arising out of the jurisdiction of this Court, were taken up for grant of bail. The learned Public Prosecutor was also present. Heard him with regard to objections, if any. Considering the urgent need and necessity to ensure social distancing and there by reducing the scope of infection, it is essential that the prisons are decongested as much as possible. Keeping this in view and also taking note of the nature of the offence, the following inmates of the Sub- Jail, - CIiidambaram are released/ on interim bail for a period of 3 weeks on execution of bonds for Rs.10,000/-. They shall surrender before the Court/Magistrate concerned on 07.04.2020 without fail and the Court concerned is at liberty to pass appropriate orders regarding grant of regular bail or otherwise, taking into account the relevant factors.
