View in your browser ENewsletter Summer 2018 Summit Special European Cultural Heritage Summit in Berlin The European Policy Debate “Sharing Heritage - Sharing Values”, which was held on 22 June in Berlin during the first ever European Cultural Heritage Summit, culminated with the presentation of the Berlin Call to Action “Cultural Heritage for the Future of Europe”. Europe’s high-level decision and policy makers and cultural heritage stakeholders discussed how best to use cultural heritage as a strategic resource with multiple benefits for the future of Europe. In his powerful message read during the debate, French President Emmanuel Macron emphasised that cultural heritage constitutes a cohesive and binding force for the European project. The Romanian President Klaus Werner Iohannis and the Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa also each sent personal messages to the European Policy Debate. The Presidents of the three co-hosting organisations of the European Cultural Heritage Summit, namely Maestro Plácido Domingo, President of Europa Nostra, Martina Münch, President of the German Cultural Heritage Committee (DNK), and Prof. Dr. Hermann Parzinger, President of the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) and Executive President of Europa Nostra, were proud to be the first signatories of Berlin Call to Action. We now invite all those who care for Europe’s past, present and future to sign, support and widely share the Berlin Call to Action. Read more, Watch video, See photos & Sign Berlin Call Europe’s best heritage achievements 2018 celebrated Berlin hosted a memorable ceremony in honour of the winners of the EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards 2018 on the evening of 22 June. Around 1,000 people paid tribute to this year’s most impressive accomplishments in conservation, research, dedicated service, and education, training and awareness-raising from all over Europe. Europa Nostra’s President Plácido Domingo and European Commissioner Tibor Navracsics hosted the ceremony, which was honoured with the presence and participation of the Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
