We are delighted to welcome the teams from England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Scotland and Switzerland to our 15th International Junior Curling Club Bonspiel, hosted by Gogar Park Young Curlers, Edinburgh, Scotland. Please find below all the necessary information you will need for the weekend. This includes the draw times within the two groups (Leagues A and B), the schedule of play, the basic rules, and the detailed schedule of events during your stay over the weekend. For the Bonspiel Management Team Dear Curlers, I would like to welcome everyone to Murrayfield ice rink for the 15th year of the International Junior Curling Club Bonspiel. This is a great chance for young curlers to meet their peers from around the world and gain new experiences. The IJCCB is not only a way for the young curlers to improve their knowledge in curling but also learn about Scottish culture. Mode of Play: The 2 leagues will play 4 games each (8 ends, no extra end) within the leagues. Scoring by the “Schenkel” System (with scores accumulated, including the finals). No team playing another more than once (top down adjustment), finals excepted. Pairs already played each other will be replaced downwards. The top 6 teams per league qualify for the final round. Duration of the games: All games will be 8 ends without extra end. The bell will ring after 1 hour and 40 minutes. Ends started before the bell rings can be finished. Every game should be finished after 1 hour 50 minutes. The time schedules are based on this schedule! Skips are asked to avoid long discussions within the team. The games master has the authority to give the team discussing too long a time frame of 30 seconds for the delivery of the next stone. If the team cannot play the stone within this period, the stone will be considered as played and the opponent team will continue with the game. Toss: Before every game the toss shall decide on who will play first stone. Votes should be based on fair play, communication between players and teams on and off the ice, promoting the ethos and camaraderie of Curling and not so much his or her performance on the ice. Please do not leave valuables in the changing rooms or on the barrier Mobile telephones (Handy/Portable): These items must be switched off when on the ice! Drinks, food, broom bags, rubbish, etc: After each game, every team should clear the area behind the rink and take all their belongings with them. Alcoholic beverages: We want to make clear to all participants that Scottish law does not allow minors under the age of 18 to purchase or drink alcoholic beverages anywhere. The LOC and BMT fully backup the campaign of the Curling Associations for a non-alcoholic; drug and nicotine free junior curling experience. Therefore, the consumption of alcoholic beverages during the Bonspiel weekend is ZERO for all Players. Under no circumstances must private purchases of alcohol be taken into or consumed in the ice hall or accommodation areas. * Please see the special note at the end on the Scottish Licencing Law - ‘Challenge 25’. Non Smoking Rule Smoking is forbidden in the Curling Hall, the Hotel and any venue visited, except for the designated areas indicated at each location. What to bring: Please bring your national or regional flag for the opening and closing ceremonies. It’s also a nice tradition that teams exchange a small gift before each game (a club pin, a traditional sweet, a team-picture etc.). Accommodation: Accommodation will be at the’ Ibis Hotel’, Edinburgh Park, Edinburgh. Rooms will be twin or triple. The LOC have tried to keep the teams and coaches together. But some might have to share rooms with other teams and nations. All rooms featuring en-suite bathrooms, air-cooling and a flat-screen TV.
