Option of also riding along the ‘Leeds and Liverpool canal’. This ride will allow you to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the ‘Yorkshire Dales’ with hardly any hills. A: From the free car park opposite the Masons Arms, head west on Marton Road. B: Stay on this road through Bank Newton and carry on for 5.5km and ride past the T junction signed West Marton. The road climbs up and after 300meters you take the Bridleway road (Ingthorpe Lane) on the left. C: Follow this bridleway past Inglethorpe Grange until you reach main road again: A59. CAUTION AS FAST MOVING VEHICLES. Turn left here and then over the brow of the hill turn left into East Marton. D: At the Cross Keys Pub turn left and down the hill following the right hand dead end road. This goes down and then over the canal and follows the canal on tarmac surface for 300meters. There is a T junction where you turn right and follow the bridleway track for 2.5km crossing back over the canal before arriving back in Bank Newton. E: At the cross roads in Bank Newton you turn right CAUTION! and follow this road back to Gargrave. (If the ground is dry, you can also ride along the Leeds Liverpool Canal from Cafes/Pubs East Marton to Bank Newton: shown as dashed line on map. You ride onto the Gargrave: The Masons Arms (01756 749304) Canal at the bridge just past East Marton, which then takes you all the The Dalesman Café (01756 749250) way back to just past Bank Newton.
