The National Championships is the pinnacle event where athletes compete for their Club and the sport is truly celebrated through intense competition and social events that bring together paddlers from coast to coast. For the first time ever, SNCC is sending some fine, young paddlers to this amazing event! We wish you all the best when you compete at Nationals! Your efforts have resulted in a stipend for SNCC. All are encouraged to volunteer at WIFC events. For example, at the upcoming 2016 Canadian National Dragon Boat Championships from August 19-21. As well, the Warlocks Women won gold in the B Division 500m race (against Mixed crews) and gold in the Womens division 200m race. Fantastic! Remember back in May when it was cold? August 13/14 — OCup 3, Ontario Championships in Welland organized by the Ontario Canoe Kayak Sprint Racing Affiliation. August 17 — Draw for SNCC Cash Raffle tickets. First prize: $250, Second prize: $100, Third prize: $50. August 19-21 — Some members of SNCC Warlocks, Hope Floats, and Canal Dragons will participate in the 2016 Canadian National Dragon Boat Championships in Welland. Warlocks will be racing on crews entered in the Premier, Senior B, and Senior C racing classes. August 30-September 3 — Canadian Sprint Canoe Kayak Championships in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. SNCC will be represented by Sam Abbott-Tate, David Coyne, Lillian Culp, Aiden Davis, and Evan Landry. One night in August — SNCC Social and Potluck, date TBA. On October 1, 2016 at the Welland International Flatwater Centre, SNCC will be excited to host this brand new dragon boat racing event where crews will do two 5km races throughout the day. Aside from racing, there will be food trucks, a silent auction, and a beer tent. Many volunteers will be needed! Invite friends and family to watch the races and volunteer!
