NCAAB: Utah Utes G Delon Wright Turning Heads Author : The Pac-12 seems to belong to Arizona, but watch out for Utah as the Utes are quietly turning some heads. The team's unquestioned leader is senior guard Delon Wright, who could be a first-round talent. Wright has NBA basketball in his blood. His brother Dorell plays on the Portland Trail Blazers, and Delon could be every bit as good as his older brother. Wright has an NBA-ready physique standing an impressive 6'5 and weighing a healthy 190 pounds. He backs up his NBA-ready frame with an NBA caliber game. This season, the senior averages 16.6 points per game which leads the team. However, the most poignant feature of Wright is his ability to pass the ball. Wright does indeed play some point guard for Utah, and he does a very good job of distributing the rock. Wright has had five games this season with five or more assists, including a game against Wichita State where Wright tallied seven assists on the Shockers. His other quality feature are his great percentages from the field. Wright shoots at a very respectable 58.6 percent. However, while he does shoot a remarkable percent from the field he has struggled shooting the three-point shot, only able to manage a 33.3 percentage from beyond the arc. Wright doesn't include the three-ball much in his offensive game, as he has only shot the ball from deep three or more times twice this season. Regardless, you don't find 6'5 point guards very often, especially ones that shoot at the percentages Wright does. He can defend (evident by his 2.5 steals per game) just about any player on the court, and even chips in with five rebounds a contest. The only drawback to Wright's draft stock might be his age. While 22 isn't necessarily old, there isn't much project ability in his game. Wright could get better and grow more into his game, or maybe this is the best he has to offer. Although, even if this is the game Wright has to offer the NBA, it's still first-round worthy. 1 / 1 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org).
