We have a fantastic line up of musicians and entertainers for your delight during this year’s event. Throughout the day we shall be presenting live music continuously from our two stages. During the afternoon we have a mixture of seasoned musicians and several teenage bands that will be bringing their own angst and attitude. We have our own scout band featuring several ukuleles and a local guitar teacher who will showcase some of his pupils. Our compere Peter Tolhurst will keep you informed what is happening during the whole event, so sit back and enjoy the music. Throughout the day Ollie The Juggler will be doing his thing and you must watch out for his fire show later in the evenin g! We have some fabulous prizes including a Fender Stratocaster donated by Fleetcroft Guitars as well as some other great prizes. We will also be auctioning a talking book of Eric Clapton’s autobiography signed by the Ripley man himself. Our headlining band Draven deserves our support and special thanks. This local band saw their brilliant debut album “Eden” arrived in the shops in 2009. They have a headlining slot on the mainstage at Guilfest next week and we hope they can make the big time this year. They will rock your socks of f! All profits from this year’s event will go towards the general upkeep of Ripley Scout Group and ensure we are able to continue to maintain our headquarters and keep our minibus running for the benefit of all our young members. Playing live, Nick uses a Pearl Masters Maple kit and a combination of Zildjian and Sabian cymbals. He also teaches drums, and is a director of global drum tuition network, Drumsense. Tony Donnelly , bass guitarist, whose influences have come from a wide and varied genre of music, from Marvin Gaye to the Foo Fighters, Pink Floyd to Kings of Leon, and Stevie Wonder to Red Hot Chilli Peppers. He uses a Fender Precision Bass with a Mark Bass ‘Little Mark II’ amplifier running through a TRV102P and TRV115P Mark Bass cabinets. Gary Albans has been playing guitar since the age of 10, and has played in live bands since his late teens in original and cover bands. Genres covered during his experience include, rock, pop, jazz rock and soul. Playing live, Gary uses a ’96 Strat, a Yamaha SG200s and a Seagull Acoustic. Like most Guitarist's he has a selection of effects units, his latest is a Line 6, X3 Live and it plugs straight into the PA. Phil Green is the singer, with a real passion and taste for the masters of his trade, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Tom Jones, Sinatra, Steve Tyler, Ottis Reading, Michael McDonald to name but a few. Phil joined Bazooka Joe a year ago bringing with him a plethora of experience from performing Swing, Tribute and Jazz; and has given Bazooka Joe the voice this band was justifiably craving. Introducing #NowPlaying! Formed from the parents, leaders and hangers on from Ripley Scout group, this band of ne-er-do-wells are this year tackling the sophistication of a Ukulele trio! Marvel as they wring fresh magic from a set of classic rock songs and ballads. Could this be the start of a Ripley Rocks Ukulele revival...? Since then they have played blues and rock covers at pubs and parties all over Surrey and Hampshire. AdAstra are lively energetic and most of all original, we set ourselves apart from other bands of our age group and gernre through our originality and tone. We plan not just to play some awesome music at Ripley but to entertain the crowd. Working & co-writing alongside an eclectic range of artists & producers such as Amy Winehouse, Skin, Craigy Dodds (Sugababes, Destiny’s Child), Dean James (Duran Duran, Nitin Sawhney, David Gray, Paul McCartney) to JTQ, John Martyn & Shakin Stevens... It seemed to be a natural move after several years of hooking up with each other through these various projects to get together & produce their own material. The guitarists are all aged between 10 and 14 and have been taught by Dave Pascoe, the founder of Willow Guitar Tuition, based in Send, The lead singer is 12 year old Lilly Morton, a student at St Peters school in Guildford and the the bass player is Anna Stubbs from West Clandon who is 11! The band's drummer is Simon ‘sticks’ Hurdle, the eldest group member at the sprightly age of 19! None of the youngsters have played in public before so wish them luc k! The last two songs will be performed by Dave and one of his older students, Sarah Glassup with Sarah’s boyfriend Mark performing the vocals. In September, Dave is starting ‘The Band Factory’ in Send. This will be a weekly rock school focussed on giving aspiring guitarists aged between 9 and 16, with at least one years’ experience the opportunity of performing within a live band. Please speak to Dave if you need more information. Cloc kw ork City A young, Guildford based band, formed in September of 2009. Occupying a space between rock, pop and metal, this female fronted band play energetic, original material. The linup features Georgia Meek on vocals; Ali Jewers and Andrew Cairns on Guitar; Chris Boyle on bass; and Josh Insoll on the Drums. Circus-olly-g is run by Olly Bower and specialises in circus skills workshops and tuition in the following circus aspects: juggling, plate spinning, diabolo, devil stick, poi and balancing props. Circus skills can be performed by anyone regardless of age and ability. Circus skills workshops can also be performed by anyone and for any reason be it school clubs, Scout and Guide groups, work team building sessions, social events or just to try something different. I leant to three-ball juggle from a very early age and have gone on to teach myself plate spinning, diabolo, poi, devil stick and how to use various balancing props. With help along the way from amateurs and professionals alike, I’ve picked up knowledge in different ways to teach circus skills as well as tricks and performance skills.
