WALLACE Maritana

WALLACE Maritana

The Irish composer Vincent Wallace’s opera Maritana was among the most populur of the 19th century. It offers a contrast of the Spanish court and the street-singer of the title in a plot that ends happily for all except the unscrupulous harltone Don José. The influence of Meyerbeer is evident, among others, in a score that still has good tunes to recommend It. © 2016 Naxos Rights US, Inc. ℗ 1996 HNH International Ltd. of this compact disc prohibited. and copying Unauthorized public performance, broadcasting All rights reserved. and printed in the U.S.A.
