January 5, 2018 Happy 2018!! If You Have A

January 5, 2018 Happy 2018!! If you have a senior graduating in 2018, congratulations!! I have two myself and I believe we are all counting down the days! It is an exciting time (a little sad) but make sure you stay up with your senior and know where they are on the credits and grades. Unfortunately, some of our seniors had an attack of SENIORITIS during the first semester and are going to have to get on it this semester to ensure they earn their credits to graduate. If not all needed credits are earned, they will not be allowed to walk at graduation or earn their diploma. Well Bears, Jack Frost has been nipping at our noses this week! He even threw in some slick roads Thursday morning causing us to run on a Two Hour Delay. The high school delay schedules are posted on the high school web site. Students need to refer to these schedules so they know when to be here. Today was Instructional Day #84 for the school year! The daily announcement PowerPoint is accessible through the Library link on the High School webpage. Seniors and parents of seniors - please be aware that there is a strict dress code that must be adhered to in order to participate in the Spencer County Public Schools Graduation Ceremony. One piece of that dress code is that seniors must wear a graduation cap and gown. Balfour will be here to take orders for the graduation cap and gown this coming Wednesday, January 10, during lunch. Order forms are being sent home with the seniors but for your convenience a copy has been attached or one can be found on the school website. Balfour has extra options available but the Basic Package of $35.00 is the only thing that is required. Payment is required in full at the time of order by cash, check, or money order made payable to Balfour. On-line orders will be available near the end of January. Graduation is tentatively set for Friday, May 25th and will be at the KY Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Louisville. The Cody Lang Klefot Memorial Scholarship (due April 9, 2018) and the Nick Burns Memorial Scholarship (due March 31, 2018) applications are now available in the Guidance Office or the College and Career Center. Visit the Guidance website to get a copy online! http://spencercountyhighschoolguidance.weebly.com/scholarships.html Kentucky Farm Bureau awards 90 scholarships annually to students across our state.
