Who Can Get Help

Who Can Get Help

7th January 2021 Dear Parents / Carers, The Department of Education are offering a generous scheme which increases data allowances for mobile phone users on certain networks. This is so that children and young people can access remote education if their face-to-face education is being disrupted by current lockdown circumstances. We encourage you to read the following information about this scheme. Who can get help: Schools, trusts and local authorities can request mobile data increases for children and young people who: do not have fixed broadband at home cannot afford additional data needed to access educational resources or social care services are experiencing disruption to their face-to-face education or have been advised not to attend school (e.g. current lockdown circumstances) Children with access to a mobile phone on one of the following networks* might be able to benefit: Three Smarty Virgin Mobile EE Tesco Mobile Sky Mobile *Other providers may join the scheme at a later stage. When help is available: Schools, trusts and local authorities can request mobile data increases when schools report a closure or have pupils self-isolating. We can also make requests for children who cannot attend school face-to-face because: they’re clinically extremely vulnerable restrictions prevent them from going to school (e.g. current lockdown) Cranleigh C of E Primary School | Parsonage Road | Cranleigh | Surrey | GU6 7AN t. 01483 273286 f. 01483 271008 e. The Department for Education (DfE) are also providing 4G wireless routers for selected children in years 3-11 to help them get online and access remote education or those in any year group who have been advised to shield because they (or someone they live with) are clinically extremely vulnerable. However, it is recommended that we first check if you are eligible to get a free mobile data increase as above. If this is not available from your network provider, our school will then be able to request 4G routers for a small number of children (providing this is still available). If you are experiencing difficulties with the above form, please get in contact with us at: [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Your sincerely Gillian Leadbetter-Simms Cranleigh C of E Primary School | Parsonage Road | Cranleigh | Surrey | GU6 7AN t. 01483 273286 f. 01483 271008 e.
