FISCAL YEAR 2005 YOUTHBUILD AWARDS ARIZONA PPEP Youthbuild Somerton-San Luis of Tucson will receive a Youthbuild grant in the amount of 400,000. The grant will enable PPEP to train 30 youth between the ages of 16-24 and to construct 100 new houses. Major partners include: HEP program, PPEP TEC Charter High School, Arizona Western College, and Housing Development Corporation in Yuma County. The Richmond Youthbuild program will serve neighborhoods in the City of Richmond where youth and young adults are at extremely high-risk and confront major challenges including violence, rampant drug use, and gangs. Major partners include the Sonoma County Employment and Training Division, Social Advocates for Youth and Sonoma County Adult and Juvenile Probation Departments. The partners for this project include: Northeast Denver Housing Center, Inc., Colorado Youth Corps Association, Greiner Electric, PCL Construction Services, Educational Opportunity Center, Denver Justice and Peace Center, Millender White Construction, Empire Construction, Junior Achievement, and NPower Colorado. Major partners include: Youthbuild Public Charter School, Smithsonian Institution staffs for LAYC’s Columbia Heights Community Science Workshop, Mary’s Center for Maternal and Child Care, and MANNA, Inc.
