MIAMI DOLPHINS AT CINCINNATI BENGALS PAUL BROWN STADIUM AUG. 29, 2021 | 4 PM ET POSTGAME NOTES DOLPHINS CLOSE PRESEASON WITH COMEBACK WIN • The Dolphins erased a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to come back and win the preseason finale in Cincinnati, 29-26. • Miami scored two long touchdowns inside the final six minutes to turn a 12-point deficit into a 3-point victory. o QB Reid Sinnett found WR Kirk Merritt for a 44-yard touchdown with 5:57 left to make the score 26-21. o Sinnett hit TE Chris Myarick on fourth-and-15 for a 34-yard touchdown with 1:21 to play to take a 29-26 lead. • The victory gives Miami a winning preseason for the second consecutive time. Miami went 3-1 in the 2019 preseason and there were no preseason games in 2020. • Brian Flores is now 5-2 all-time in preseason games. SINNETT PASSES FOR 343 YARDS • QB Reid Sinnett took every snap for the Dolphins and completed 22-of-33 passes (66.7 pct.) for 343 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. • Sinnett’s 343 passing yards are the most any NFL quarterback has had in a preseason game since at least the 2017 season. o Current teammate Jacoby Brissett had 341 passing yards in an Aug. 31, 2017 preseason game vs. the N.Y. Giants when he was a member of the New England Patriots. • Both of Sinnett’s touchdown passes came in the final six minutes of the game. • In the fourth quarter, Sinnett was 9-for-13 (69.2 pct.) for 163 yards, two touchdowns a passer rating of 151.4. • Sinnett led four touchdown drives, all of which were at least 70 yards in length. DOAKS SCORES TWICE IN RETURN TO CINCINNATI • RB Gerrid Doaks scored on a pair of carries in the first half to give Miami a 14-10 lead going into the break. • Doaks’ first touchdown came on a 3-yard run in the first quarter. It capped off a 13-play, 74-yard drive that took 7:09 off the clock and gave the Dolphins a 7-0 lead. • His second score was a 1-yard plunge with 1:18 remaining in the second quarter. It finished an 11-play, 75-yard drive that lasted 6:04 and gave Miami a 14-10 halftime lead. • Doaks was a seventh-round pick (244th overall) by Miami in the 2021 NFL Draft out of the University of Cincinnati. He’s from Indianapolis, which is about 115 miles from Cincinnati. • He finished the game with 16 carries for 56 yards (3.5 avg.) and two touchdowns.
