NTR TRUST NEWS BULLETIN - 6 We are happy to share with you the NTR Trust e-News Bulletin for the months of March and April 2016. We will be happy to have your feedback. HIGHLIGHTS 1. NTR Trust Skill Development Centre successfully completed one year of operations on 06 April 2016. During this year 825 youngsters from AP & Telangana graduated of which 325 students were placed across various sectors. 15 job drives were conducted and partnership was built with 100 companies. 2. Mr. Y.Mohan Rao, COO-Education was invited to take part in a TV5 live programme to create awareness to youngsters on the education opportunities and career choices after 10th standard. 3. Team NTR Trust was glad to associate with Tollywood Actress Lakshmi Manchu to help Srilatha (a widow who is going blind) on the TV reality show Memu Saitham. Trustee Ms. Nara Brahmani offered ​ ​ Srilatha’s two children free and quality residential education at our NTR Model School & NTR Junior College. 4. 4 of our NTR Girls Junior College children stood as toppers in the Junior Intermediate public examinations. 5. 4 of our ex-NTR Model School children also stood as toppers in the Senior Intermediate public examinations. 6. Kudaravalli Sudhakar Rao , a kuwait based NRI donated an ambulance to NTR Trust in the presence of Trustee Nara Lokesh and CEO T. Vishnu Vardhan. NTR Trust will use this vehicle in the service of ferrying unfortunate death victims and chronic patients, returning from Gulf to their native places. WE WORK THE TALK www.ntrtrust.org | 1 ​ ​ EDUCATION Our vision is to provide quality education to thousands of needy children who can’t afford it. Towards this vision, we intend to establish one NTR Model School in every district of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Key Activities: 1. Nara Brahmani Trustee, has agreed to sponsor education of Srilatha’s two children until Intermediate in NTR Model School & College as part of the TV reality show Memu saitham (We Too Can!). Srilatha ​ lost her sight 3 years ago owing to brain tumour. Her husband, who was a daily wage earner, died 1 1/2 years ago in an accident . Srilatha depends on her poverty-stricken parents to sustain her family. 2. Education COO, Mr. Y. Mohan Rao shared about NTR Trust’s Education Programme in TV5 live programme to create awareness on the education opportunities at NTR Model School & NTR Junior College. 3. NTR Model School collaborated with DynEd to make English more enjoyable and interesting language to the students. We conducted “ DynEd English Reading and Speaking Activity”in school premises. This helps students to develop skills to communicate clearly and effectively in English. 4. Mr. Mohan Rao, COO spoke on the “Role of Ambedkar in empowering backward classes and his achievement” in a seminar which was organized at NTR Junior College on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. 5. We feel happy and privileged to announce that our maiden NTR Girls Junior College students have successfully passed their Junior Intermediate Exams We are proud of their top scores - Ms. K.Sravani ( 464/470 MPC) ;Ms. Chandana (460/470 MPC); Ms.Viswani (488/500 MEC); Ms. Mahathi Saveri (473/500 CEC). 6. We are happy to share that our NTR Model School X class batch of 2013-14 which we sponsored their intermediate education too has successfully passed their Intermediate Exams. We are proud of their top scores - Ms. Jyothi (982/1000 MPC); Mr. Anvesh (966/1000 BiPC); Ms. Triveni (966/1000 BiPC); Mr.Vijay Kumar (960/1000 MEC). Press & Media Coverage: 1. Kudaravalli Sudhakar Rao, a kuwait based NRI donated an ambulance to NTR Trust in the presence of the Trustee Nara Lokesh and CEO T. Vishnu Vardhan. NTR Trust will use this vehicle to ferry unfortunate death victims and chronic patients, mostly labourers , returning from Gulf to their native places. Nara Lokesh flagged off the ambulance and said that “ NTR Trust will take measures to provide such ambulance service to poor Gulf NRIs from Vijayawada , Hyderabad, Chennai, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam airports”. 2. During March and April 2016, various organizations and individuals have come forward to voluntarily donate blood. We salute their amazing spirit and thank the institutions, employees, and well-wishers for giving us the opportunity to contribute to the noble cause of voluntary blood donation. The venues of the blood donation camps were - Tech Mahindra, Microsoft, JP Morghan Chase,Alankritha Resorts - Hyderabad, Madanapalli - AP, Excise Departmet Anakapalli, Narava Cheyutha Foundation, CMR Mall, Symbiosis, Avanthi college- Visakhapatnam. 3. During March and April 2016, NTR Trust organized free Medical Camps across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, wherein people were given free treatment and medicines. WE WORK THE TALK www.ntrtrust.org | 3 ​ ​ EMPOWERMENT AND LIVELIHOODS Key Activities: 1. NTR Trust Skill Development Centre successfully completed one year of operations as on 06 April,2016. We have graduated 825 youngsters in AP & Telangana and placed 325 students in various sectors. 15 job drives were conducted and partnership with 100 companies. An initiative step was taken by SDC and 130 youngsters were given free coaching for Group -I, Group-II. An MoU was signed with UBER to create 20,000 self-employment opportunities. NTR Trust SDC was recognized as ICONIC Skills Training Centre by NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation), Govt.of India. 2. Wikipedia workshop was held at NTR Trust Skill Development Centre. Wikipedia volunteers and Mr.Pavan Santosh conducted this workshop, which was attended by NTR Trust staff & SDC students. This workshop provided hands-on training on how to edit Telugu Wikipedia. 3. Professor L.Sai Kumar gave a pep talk to the students of NTRT Skill development Centre, Hyderabad on the topic “ Failure a route to success”. 4. As part of Smart AP Programme, we have partnered with local communities of Komaravolu and Nimmakuru villages in Krishna district and helped in the construction of 96 IHHLs and undertook behavioral change communication activities. 5. As part of Smart AP Programme, GIS survey was completed in 10 villages, adopted by NRI’s & local partners. Following are those villages - Vemuru, Vaddeswaram, Mohammedapuram, Unnava, Perali, Ramakuru, Irramgaripalle, Pallamalli, Madduluru, Mandapadu. Press & Media Coverage: 1.
