May 23 – 30, 2015 DAY 1 SATURDAY: ARRIVAL Pick up at airport in Trapani Birgi at agreed time and for those travelling by train from the station in Marsala. Settle in rooms at Villa Salinara. (www.salinara.com) 7:00 pm Meet with instructor and staffs. Introduction to the programme, the tours and visits planned for the week. 8:00 pm ree course welcome dinner at Villa Salinara. DAY 2 SUNDAY: WINE AND OLIVE OIL TASTING IN MARSALA 8:00 am – 9:00 am Breakfast 9:15 am – 12:00 pm Painting at Villa 12:30 pm Self catering lunch 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm Painting at Villa and Torre San Teodoro (surroundings) 6:00 pm An utterly panoramic ride with stops for beautiful vistas will take us to the historic center of Marsala, where passionate owner of the “Enoteca” will introduce us to the prize winning Marsala wines. Accompanied by delicious local cheese, salami, olives, dry tomatos, finishing with a “cannoli” tasting for a delicious light dinner. DAY 3 MONDAY: ERICE MOUNTAIN 8:00 am – 9:00 am Breakfast 9:15 am – 12:00 pm Painting at Villa 12:30 pm Self catering lunch 2:00 pm Leave for Erice. An utterly panoramic ride with stops for beautiful sea views will take us to the medieval village. Erice is located on top of Mount Erice, at around 750m above sea level, overlooking the city of Trapani, the low western coast towards Marsala, the dramatic Punta del Saraceno and Capo San Vito to the north-east, and the Aegadian Islands on Sicily's north-western coast, providing spectacular views. 2:45 pm - 6:00 pm Visit, free time and painting at Erice. 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm Short ride to Trapani historic center. e city sits on a low-lying promontory jutting out into the Mediterranean Sea. 7:30 pm Dinner in Trapani, tasting the original Pizza at the typical Pizzeria. DAY 4 TUESDAY: PAINTING BETWEEN ANCIENT SALT PANS AND WINDMILLS 8:00 am – 9:00 am Breakfast 9:15 am – 12:00 pm Painting at Villa 12:30 pm Self catering lunch and relax at the Villa 3:00 pm – 6:30 pm Painting at Windmills in a Natural Preserve. About 2,700 years ago the Phoenicians created the first salt pans . Today, became the most important area of salt making in Europe. 7:30 pm Dinner at Renda, typical sicilian trattoria with sunset sea view. DAY 5 WEDNESDAY: PAINTING AT ARCHEOLOGIC PARK IN SELINUNTE 8:00 am – 9:00 am Breakfast 9:00 am Leave for Selinunte. 10:00 am – 12:30 pm Painting at Archeologic Park in Selinunte 12:30 pm Self catering Lunch on the way 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm Painting at Archeologic Park in Selinunte Selinunte is one of the largest and most impressive archaeological sites in the Mediterranean. Has lain abandoned for over 2,000 years, its numerous greek temples, acropolis and agora in dignified ruins. Is beautifully located, sitting on a high plain and overlooking the sea. It is flanked on either side by golden beaches and, being almost 1km wide. 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm Back to the Villa. On the way stop and shopping for personal needs at the local supermarket. ** or full day in Selinunte with more time to paint and if it is possible, swim. 7:30 pm Dinner at Villa Salinara. DAY 6 THURSDAY: AT VILLA 8:00 am – 9:00 am Breakfast 9:15 am Leave for Marsala 9:30 am – 10:30 am Visit and paint at the historic fish market. 10:30 am - 12:30 pm Visit Ceramica Marsalese, a typical Sicilian ceramic producer. Meet ceramic artists and shopping. 12:30 pm Self catering lunch on the way or at the Villa 2:30 pm – 6:30 pm Painting at Villa 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm Leave for the aperitif on the sunset view terrace in front of the windmills and Mozia Island. Dinner on own. DAY 7 FRIDAY: FINAL CRITIQUE AND FAREWELL DINNER 8:00 am – 9:00 am Breakfast 9:15 am - 12:00 am Painting – final critique. 12:30 pm Self catering lunch on the way or at the Villa 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm Wrap up, packing for shipping last little shopping trip to Marsala. 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Visit to Peppe’s farm the local shepherd, where you can enjoy the true ricotta cheese production and taste it. 8:00 pm Farewell Dinner at Villa DAY 8 SATURDAY: DEPARTURE 8:00 am – 9:00 am Breakfast Departure by 11 am. Shuttle to Trapani Birgi airport or Marsala train station at agreed time or taxi service on demand. One day trip to Agrigento with its magnificent Valley of Temples (1h30’) through the old city of Sciacca.
