Records Service Records Indexes Marriage Licences 1853 – 1916 Where most couples were married by banns, where a notice of the impending marriage was posted four weeks prior to their wedding day, sometimes unusual circumstances e.g. a soldier being called off to war, or an unexpected pregnancy, called for a marriage license.
