NEWS RELEASE For information contact: Lisa Craig, Public Relations Manager 216.400.7022 [email protected] Cleveland Play House Announces Fox Fellowship Recipient Actress Maggie Lacey in Residence April 2013 – May 2014 Cleveland, OH – Cleveland Play House has been selected to participate in the seventh round of the Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowships, as announced by The William & Eva Fox Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre. Tapped for her “extraordinary potential,” actress Maggie Lacey will be in residence at CPH from April 2013 – May 2014. "We are delighted to congratulate Maggie Lacey on her Fox Fellowship,“ said Michael Bloom, artistic director. “It's a wonderful opportunity for CPH to be able to work with an actress of her caliber. It is another indication of our commitment to working with the country's finest actors." Maggie Lacey, a self-proclaimed "songcatcher," loves to explore storytelling through music and acting. Lacey has acted on Broadway in Our Town, Inherit the Wind and Dividing the Estate. Off-Broadway and regionally she has worked with Signature Theatre, Roundabout Theatre Company, Manhattan Theatre Club, Theatre for a New Audience, Arena Stage and Hartford Stage, among others. She received her MFA from the Graduate Acting Program at NYU. The Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowships is designed to support actors’ professional and artistic development, to enrich relationships between actors and nonprofit theatres and to ensure continued professional commitment to live theatre. The fellowship is one of only a few programs of its kind for actors in the country, is funded by the Fox Foundation and administered by TCG. “The Fox Foundation expresses our continued appreciation of the long-term collaborative relationship between Fox and TCG,” said Robert P. Warren, president of the Fox Foundation. “This program has provided extraordinary opportunities for Fox Fellows to further their artistic development and enhance their craft. The proposals from this year’s recipients hold great promise, not only for them personally and professionally, but also for their sponsoring theatres and the communities they so richly serve.” “Our acting community, which is predominately freelance, rarely has the opportunity to establish sustained partnerships with organizations or undertake the kind of development work that might transform their artistic and professional lives,” said Teresa Eyring, executive director of TCG. “Our partnership with Fox Foundation empowers these talented artists to take creative risks and deepen their relationships with theatres around the country.” Founded in 1915, Cleveland Play House is America’s first professional regional theatre. Throughout its rich history, Cleveland Play House has remained dedicated to its mission to inspire, stimulate and entertain diverse audiences in Northeast Ohio by producing plays and theatre education programs of the highest professional standards. It has produced more than 100 world and/or American premieres, and over its long history more than 12 million people have attended over 1,300 CPH productions. Today, under the leadership of Artistic Director Michael Bloom and Managing Director Kevin Moore, Cleveland Play House looks toward its centennial while performing in three state-of-the art venues at PlayhouseSquare in downtown Cleveland. .
