Guidelines for the import of rifles & ammunition for the participants of the Winter World Master Games Innsbruck 2020 Disclaimer Every athlete is responsible to organize the import of his/her rifle for the Biathlon competitions into Austria or the EU on his/her own. The LOC does not take any responsibility or liability and does not carry any related costs. The following information only serve as guidelines, without any claim to completeness. EU-Citizens (incl. Liechtenstein, Switzerland) • Athletes with an European Firearms Pass (EFWPASS) do not need any extra permission from the authorities for the import of max. 3 rifles + ammunition (Österreichisches Waffengesetz § 38 – see link) • Evidence for the purpose of the journey needs to be carried at all times and has to be presented on authorities’ request. The confirmation of our registration portal “Active”, which is send via email directly after the registration is complete, is sufficient as evidence for the purpose of the journey • Further regulations (especially terms of transportation) need to be checked with the respective transport service provider (e.g. airline). Third Country Citizens • In general there are no specific regulations for third country citizens with regards to the import of sport rifles and ammunition to Austria ammunition (Österreichisches Waffengesetz § 38 – see link) • The rifle can be imported into the EU as personal baggage, the athletes should carry an evidence for the purpose of the journey with them, that can be presented on request. The confirmation of our registration portal “Active”, which is send via email directly after the registration is complete, is sufficient as evidence for the purpose of the journey • Furthermore, the athletes should carry the respective firearms licence (if available) • Further regulations (especially terms of transportation) need to be checked with the respective transport service provider (e.g. airline). • Direct Entry to Austria: The LOC will inform the responsible customs authorities at the airports in Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna and recommends entering Austria via these airports, accordingly. The LOC does not have any influence on the immigration and customs process and therefore cannot guarantee an import/immigration without any problems. • Arrival via Munich Airport: In case of entering the EU via Munich, it is necessary to apply for a personalized permission to carry the rifle to Austria via Germany.
