Kurelek was a good friend of my brother Emmett. As a thank you gift, he gave my parents a painting entitled “Summer Kitchen”. Mom commented to Emmett that she could do “just as good as Kurelek” so Emmett challenged her to paint. The result of Mom’s painting became fondly known as “Mom’s Kurelek” and each of my 11 siblings has a copy.
