The Carousel Sherwood Figure Skating Club Presents August 22 & 23, 2015 Non-Qualifying & Basic Skills Competition Sherwood Ice Arena 20407 SW Borchers Drive Sherwood, Oregon 97140 Entries will be accepted through Entryeeze www.entryeeze.com Entry Deadline: August 2, 2015 11:59 pm New this year: Team Maneuvers Event (see page 14 for more information) The 2015 Sherwood Invitational competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current rulebook, as well as any pertinent updates which have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website and including rule changes for the 2015-2016 season enacted by the 2015 Governing Council. This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules, and is a currently registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, a collegiate club or an individual member in accordance with the current rulebook. Please refer to the current rulebook for non-U.S. Citizens. ELIGIBILITY/TEST LEVEL: Test level: Competition level is the highest test passed as of the entry deadline in the discipline the skater is entering. Entrants may skate one level above that for which they qualify, but they may not skate down in any event. Age restrictions/requirements: Skaters entering juvenile free skate events (Well Balanced Program) must be under 14 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering open juvenile free skate events (Well Balanced Program), must be at least 14 years of age at the close of entries. Skaters entering beginner–pre-juvenile events will be divided as closely as possible by age should the number of entries warrant more than one group. ENTRIES: Online entry with secure credit card payment is available via Entryeeze at www.entryeeze.com. Registration is ONLINE ONLY and must be completed by 11:59 PM on August 2, 2015. Practice and Competition schedules will be available at the Entryeeze website approximately two weeks before the competition. Showcase entries must indicate both their singles freeskating test level and their pattern dance test level to ensure placement in the correct showcase level in accordance with current US Figure Skating rules. Couples entering Ice Dancing & Pairs Events must complete individual entries and payments through the Entryeeze registration system. You will be asked to indicate your partner’s name. Late entries will be accepted at the discretion of the referee and the local organizing committee and will be subject to a $30 late entry fee. In any event with only one entry, the skater will be offered the choice of either competing as an individual competitor against the book, or withdrawing from the event and receiving a refund. The online processing fees are not refundable. Checks returned for non-sufficient funds and contested credit card charges will be issued a $30 fee. Payment of the fee will be required before the skater is allowed to participate in practice ice or events. Notification of competition and practice ice times will be available through at www.entryeeze.com FACILITIES: The competition will be held at Sherwood Ice Arena (SIA), 20407 SW Borchers Dr., Sherwood, OR 97140, Tel: (503) 625-5757. Sherwood Ice Arena is an indoor ice surface 85’ x 200’, with slightly rounded corners. The ice rink is unheated, with seating along one side of the rink. Warm clothing is advised. There are locker rooms for Males & Females. A changing area will be provided. Parents and coaches are not allowed in the changing areas. It is recommended to bring your skater to the rink already dressed if assistance is needed. The Carousel Sherwood Figure Skating Club (CSFSC) will provide complimentary hospitality for skaters only throughout the competition. There is a snack bar in the main lobby for guests. MUSIC: Music must be reproduced on CD (no CD-RWs). CDs must contain only one cut of music for one program. The CD must be clearly labeled in ink (Sharpie pen) with the skater’s name, the coach’s name, the event, and the music run time. The CD must not have any type of small label attached as labels tend to stick in the music player. The official competition music must be turned in at the registration table at the time of check-in. All competitors must have an extra copy of the CD available at rink side during their event. Music may be picked up at the registration table following each event. Every reasonable care will be taken, but the Carousel Sherwood FSC cannot be responsible for CDs left at the end of the competition. Please have separate CDs for practice and competition. LIABILITY: U.S. Figure Skating, Carousel Sherwood Figure Skating Club, and Sherwood Ice Arena accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook. JUDGING SYSTEM: The International Judging System (IJS) under Rule 1070 will be used for the following events: - Well Balanced Program free skate events, juvenile – senior - Short program events, juvenile – senior - Non-test through Pre-Juvenile free skate* - Adult Gold free skate* - Short dance events, junior – senior* - Masters Intermediate/Novice and Masters Junior/Senior free skate* All competitors skating in these events need to submit the planned program content form online. This form is found on Entryeeze. The deadline to submit the form is August 9th, 2015. A $30 fee will be charged for late PPCs. *The referee reserves the right to use the 6.0 system for some events if IJS-qualified officials are not available. The 6.0 Majority Judging System under Rule 1060 will be used for: - All Basic Skills Events -FS1 through FS6 Well Balanced Program -Introductory Free Skate events (Beginner, High Beginner) -All Test Track Events -All specialty singles events (Spins, Jumps, Compulsory Moves) -All showcase events-Light Entertainment, Dramatic Entertainment and Interpretive -Figures -Dance events through Novice -All pairs events -The Referee reserves the right to use the 6.0 system for any event for which IJS qualified officials are not available REGISTRATION: Registration will begin on Saturday, August 22nd 2015, one hour before the first event and run through the last event of the day. The registration will be located in the rink lobby skate counter. Please register promptly upon arrival. PRACTICE ICE: Practice Ice shall be scheduled through Entryeeze for all events. Each competitor may request one $15.00/ 30min, practice session PER event entered (excluding improv events). Skaters will be able to pick their own practice ice sessions online, but you MUST indicate number of sessions you want online when you register and MUST pay for them when you register online. You will receive an email with instructions on choosing practice ice time after the schedule has been set. Every effort will be made to schedule Practice ice sessions as close to the competition as possible, however this is not guaranteed. *Depending on the size of the competition, practice ice selection might be limited to one or two time choices. Practice Ice not pre--ordered will be sold on a first come-first serve basis, but we cannot guarantee additional practice sessions. If space permits, additional practice ice will be available for purchase during the competition for $20.00/30 minutes at the registration desk. No Changes - No Refunds. Practice ice money is non refundable, and you may not assign your practice ice to another skater. Practice Ice Schedules: will not be given over the phone but will be available at the Entryeeze website when available. PHOTOGRAPHY/VIDEOGRAPHY: A professional video company will be present to shoot video of each event. A photographer will be present to shoot all award events. The vendors will charge separately for these services. For details, see the vendors upon arrival at the rink. All events will be photographed and videotaped regardless of purchase. Parents may videotape their own skater from the stands only. Videotaping is not permitted rink side. Please be courteous to those viewing the event. No flash photography of any kind is allowed in the arena. AWARDS: Medals will be awarded to 1st through 3rd place and ribbons will be awarded to 4th through 6th place. We ask that all skaters earning an award collect it at the award/photography area directly after results are posted, and then stay for a group photo whether or not you intend to purchase. Individual photographs can be taken at this time as well. No personal cameras will be permitted in the award/photo area. Special Awards: Lauren Bernstein Memorial Trophy – Lauren Bernstein (1984-1998) was a 13 year old Carousel FSC Novice Ladies skater and Silver ice dancer who loved her family, friends, school and performing on the ice.
