While now constrained to the isolated rocky cliffs, their preferred habitat, the wild sheep are not farmed in any way. Treasured as a source of food and recreation, Islanders strive to preserve this now rare breed by promoting sustainable and managed hunting which not only helps to preserve the breed but bring vital income to the Island. Flowerpot Adventures has exclusive access to this resource and works closely with land owners to provide a safe and enjoyable hunt. Day Hunt Guests staying on the main Chatham Island can still take the opportunity to hunt Pitt Island Wild sheep on Pitt Island if time does not permit a longer stay. Guests would need to make their own way to Chathams airport for an 8.30am departure to Pitt Island. The 25min scenic flight by Cessna 206 is a great way to start the day. On arrival at Pitt Island you would be met by your guide. Quad bikes provide easy transport to the hunting areas. All necessary equipment and lunch is provided including firearms if required.
