Chhattisgarh ranked second in terms of value of major mineral production (excluding atomic, fuel and minor minerals) in India, with a 17.2 per cent share in February 2018. It is a leading producer of minerals such as coal, iron ore and dolomite. Strong mineral production . Coal production & iron ore production in the state accounted for about 21 per cent and 17 per cent of the base overall coal & iron ore production in India, respectively, during 2017-18 (up to February 2018). Iron ore from Bailadila mines in the state is considered to be among the best in the world, in terms of quality. It is the only state in India that produces tin concentrates and accounts for 35.4 per cent of tin ore reserves of India. During 2017-18 (up to February 2018), tin concentrate production in the state stood at 15,650 kgs. Korba – Power capital of . Korba district in Chhattisgarh is known as the power capital of India.
