Terna: Definitive Project Approved for Restructuring of the Electricity Grid in the Municipalities of Pianezza, Collegno, Rivoli and San Gillio

Plans for new 6-km cable connection and demolition of 49 pylons and 15 km of lines in residential areas TERNA: DEFINITIVE PROJECT APPROVED FOR RESTRUCTURING OF THE ELECTRICITY GRID IN THE MUNICIPALITIES OF PIANEZZA, COLLEGNO, RIVOLI AND SAN GILLIO The total value of the works is around € 22 million Over 33 hectares of land returned Rome, 22 June 2020 – Approval has been given for the definitive restructuring project for the 220 kV electricity grid in the municipalities of Pianezza, Collegno, Rivoli and San Gillio. Tomorrow, Terna will publish the notice indicating areas potentially affected by the modernisation work. The project, which will see around € 22 million investment from Terna, has been approved by the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry for the Environmental and will allow overall modernisation of the electricity grid in the area, guaranteeing increased operating efficiency and environmental sustainability thanks to reduced impact of existing overhead power lines, some of which are currently located alongside residential areas. With these works on the Piossasco – Pianezza and Rosone – Pianezza power lines, Terna will rebuild around 4 km of overhead lines along the stretch, allowing demolition of around 15 km of existing lines with 49 pylons, thus returning 33 hectares currently housing the now obsolete infrastructure to local interests. In addition, the new 220 kV Pianezza Grugliasco underground-cable connection will be created, running over 6 km. Terna plans to launch works by the end of 2020, once technical planning and environmental monitoring activities are complete. The works fall within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Terna, the Piedmont Region and the City of Turin, and continue restructuring activity in the Turin area that has allowed significant modernisation of 132 kV and 220 kV electricity lines in recent years. .
