Dan deStefano Trish Elam Chuck Fredrick Laurel Markley Why The Change? Peter Marrocco Mark Matson Dragonfly is continually improving the way we serve our Melissa Matson patients and their families. Along with that improvement Kailee Nagengast Christine Neitzke, Chair comes a growth in understanding the impact we’re truly Jim Neitzke having. After a lot of reflection and many discussions Doris Owens internally and with our families, we discovered we were Tony Ricci doing more than providing comfort and joy. While Carlos Sanchez comfort and joy are important, they are merely the Scott Seger Donna Thorman vehicle by which we deliver the ability for our families to Greg Vehr find strength during a time of turmoil and weakness. Bob Wysocki PATIENTS & FAMILIES 720 In 2016, our active patient base grew to 720. The ACTIVE PATIENTS increase brings our total number of patients served since 2010 to more than 900. Our ability to expand services to more patients continues to grow thanks to the incredibly generous support from our great community. At Dragonfly, it’s not just the patients who are focused on, but their siblings and caregivers as well. In 2016 we were able to grow our total constituency to more than 3000 individuals. Our programs are designed to include the entire family, ensuring that 3060 no one feels lost or alone during TOTAL CONSTITUENTS this process. For the campaign we partnered with locally headquartered Luxottica Retail to bring some happiness and pride to a number of our patients in the form of sunglasses. To spread the word, our Dragonflies participated in a photo-shoot with well-known Cincinnati photographer Michael Bambino. The resulting images made a strong statement about what it’s like to be looked at differently because of an illness. Our patients wore their I Am Still Me t-shirts, showing us that just because they may have lost their hair or their cheeks look puffy, doesn’t change who they are on the inside. They are still the same person. They ‘re still the same son, daughter, friend or anything else that they always have been. “Cancer can affect my platelets, hemoglobin, appetite and many other things, but I know I won’t let it change who I am as a person” Hayley, 18 Dragonfly harnessed the power of social media to raise more than $12,000 during the I Am Still Me Campaign.
